Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

The real solution to "Body type 1/2" nonsense is that no video game should have a gender option in the first place. There's no legitimate reason to have playable female characters in any video game. Any man who plays as female characters will eventually be brainwashed into becoming a tranny, and women shouldn't be allowed to play video games,

The real solution is that NOBODY should play video games.

You see that indie game over there? Fuck it, kill it, slam it into the floor. give it a colonoscopy with a rake.
You see that AAA game right there? Fuck that too, throw it out a window and shove a beehive up it's ass.
You see your favorite game? Disregard all previous memories and feelings you have relating to it, stick that shit in the breaking wheel, it had a black guy in it it was probably woke anyways.

NO MORE GAMES FOR ANYONE

It really is annoying that there genuenly are so many "woke" games from 2000s that "anti-woke" people see no problem with probably just because the "woke" parts were a little less annoying and obnoxious back then.

You will never trully defeat "wokeness" if you see no problem with the ideology itself and continue to lie to yourself that you can have a "progressive" society and it won't affect the video games
This problem is even worse in other mediums with deliberate agendas too. Film and TV were always pushing progressive ideology to some extent and hiding yourself in nostalgia doesn’t do anyone any favors. Take the last red pill, even your childhood favorites had woke elements in it and to not go back further means your giving into mediocrity

'm not even that big of a stickler about bugs/glitches as long as they aren't gamebreaking,
The Xbox port of True Crime: NYC has a game-breaking glitch in one story mission where you cannot proceed in a quick-time event because the input requires frame-perfect precision. Reason: the Xbox port was released from an earlier build that had several bugs. You could bypass it by either using a cheat code or by making the game lag through widescreen and mashing the corresponding button.

Any time you play a game that doesn't bear the official Nintendo Seal of Quality, you're taking a huge gamble.

Ooof! Arguably the WORST port of that game. I think it's a good thing that broken ports/games like this exist from a technical perspective. They can be case studies of how NOT to release or code a game if somebody cares enough to dig in and learn its logic.

I miss the days when releasing a bug-riddled game meant it sold poorly and possibly killed the IP completely.

I miss box sets for video games.

Get two games for the price of one or at a reduced price. That's value. Buying bundles digitally doesn't do it for me.
I miss box sets and boxed copies in general.
I've never understood the concept or reason behind people who buy any number of video games and then proceed to just let them rot either in their steam library or on their shelf.
I’m guilty of this. I’ll buy something for 80-95% off of something i might play in the next year. But if it’s a game i want to play immediately, i don’t have a problem paying current price(if not on sale). However I won’t pay $70 for some AAA shit game.

All digital purchases are glorified rentals anyways.

Was this the one where they had all these horrific bugs related to jumping, and when they realized that at no point in the game was jumping relevant they just disabled jumping?

You know the game industry is in a bad place when releasing a functional product is grounds for success instead of the bare minimum.

Doom 3 and its expansion are pretty bad. I'm posting in this thread because I know this game has defenders. I replayed it recently and barely had any fun.

Guns sound and feel awful. The shotgun and SSG in particular are every underpowered and you can actually MISS from point blank range. I watched some Shadowplay clips I recorded and couldn't believe my eyes.

Levels look like generic sci-fi and there's nothing memorable about them, Although they still hold up graphics wise.

Enemies keep spawning behind your back, so doing a 180 after hearing teleportation sounds becomes second nature to you. They also don't look anything like the designs we all know and love.

Bosses are laughable. You can kill at least two of them in about 10 seconds each.

The memorable music from D1 and D2 is gone. Yeah, 90% of it was ripped off, I know. I don't care that much.

I cannot stand the modern trend of mixing synthetic instruments into chip tune music. It almost never sounds good. The instrumentation is flat in a disatisfying way and it makes the cohesion of the soundtrack go out the window because everything is a schizo mix of epic orchestra and quirky sawtooth. Either stick to real Instruments or get good enough to make your square wave sound like a guitar, pick a lane.

Undertale was horrible about this, and it's annoying as hell because for years nobody would shut the fuck up about the OST. The fact Megalovania and Death by Glamor are in the same game is a crime.

I've only ever seen a single composer pull off mixing the two like that, and Toby Fox definitely isn't it.

I made it halfway through the BFG edition and turned it off. It's an incredibly boring game. Unreal 2 is another game from around then that's a dull-as-dishwater tech demo.

a lot of people who bitch about Wokeshit have basically turnt into mini-Jack Thompsons but refuse to realize this, is shit like Type A/Type B in character creators mildily annoying ? yes but its not the hill I choose to die on, saving that shit for disasters like Concord or Dustborn makes far more sense.
you're not wrong, but you have to keep in mind it's like chemicals: overexposure leads to intolerance.

20 years ago no one would've given a shit, it would've been an odd curiosity, nothing more. but with [current year]+11, even that little bit is enough. devs and companies especially pushed that shit so hard, there's simply no tolerance left anymore. no more virtue signaling to possible double dip, you're either wokeshit or you're not, simple as.

It's literally an ick
A seemingly minor detail which (apparently) points to a whole host of issues
For me, it’s not so much that it’s called “body type A or B” but what it indicates on a larger scale. If they are so scared to offend trannies then it’s a good indicator that the writing is going to be the same PR-approved boring drivel that we’ve been seeing for the past several years
Hit the nail on the head here.
It's about knowing it's shit simply by the waft of shit smell coming your way. You don't need to lick it to find out its shit, you can already tell way in advance.
It's a gigantic telltale sign.

The next part would be assessing how good of an ick it is, in the sense of how reliable it is in "I can write off this entire game right here and now". And I think it's pretty damn good.

Quake 3 is the only one that stood the test of time. The first one is incredibly muddy brown and most enemies barely do anything below nightmare. I don't even know how Quake 2 keeps getting remasters and AI-generated hallucination-games. Surely, there was something better at the time...? Quake 4 is like a reskin of Doom 3.
I've never played Quake Live because I'm not into autistic 500km/h strafejump deathmatch, but it's just Quake 3 with some weapons nobody uses and competitive rules.
Quake Champions clearly tried to capitalize on the lack of a proper arena-shooter, and couldn't stop but turn the Quake 3 skins into quirky characters with special skills.

The older Doom titles aged like shit too, but people like them despite the horrible maps, painfully generic weapons and buggy as hell hit detection (I do love playing like 5 maps of a good gigawad from time to time though).
Doom 3 is what happens when you try to copy System Shock 2 but focus on marginal improvements in lighting over making the gameplay any good. Also, don't you love hearing people scream for an entire 15 minutes straight?

I remember dropping Unreal 2 a few hours into it when it came out. I finished it last year and yeah, it's mostly soulless. This time I wasn't disappointed because I wasn't expecting much. I definitely would't recommend it to anyone because it's so forgettable.

That's a good duration for a boss fight. Spider Demon went down in like two shots.

Found your problem:

seal_of_nothing.webp

It just says "Nintendo Seal". You want to look for the "Nintendo Seal of Quality", like this:

A_Nightmare_on_Elm_Street_NES_box_art.webp

Nintendo dropped the "of Quality" part in the early 90s, when video games stopped being good.

wasn't that more for PR after all the trash that released for atari? "this is good, it says so on the label" (till it wasn't).
