I think the bigger problem is that it's indicative of the issues of lack of ambition and shortsightedness of the governing class.

Everything is tax this, tax that, move 0.2% of budget spending from Sri Lankan translation services to cover the shortfall in the budget for free refugee flights from Lebanon for all the new Australians who flew over during a war, shift marginal tax rates slightly, oops gotta increase GST by 0.5% to make up the shortfall.

Theoretically taxation should be benefiting the country, but instead we get services not fit for purpose collapsing under population increases, with infrastructure that is built being a decade behind when it should have started construction, or focused on things the population doesn't want, like stadiums. Best example for me is the Sydney Metro, which suffers constant delays in completion, is nowhere near even beginning construction on the full Sydney-wide system and is designed for a Sydney that existed in 2005-2015.

Taxation isn't going to fix these issues because the things these taxes would be spent on will not be effective because of the lack of productive workers who need to build the infrastructure to accommodate the unproductive arrivals. Let's tax Bazza the truck driver more so we can employ Fu Xuan the permanent resident as a MyGov translator to ensure his 500,000 countrymen understand which services Bazza's taxes can give them.

I don't want the government getting any more of it's grubby hands on private money until they show they are effective and responsible with it's spending.

Bureaucracy is the silent killer of civilizations, it creates red tape and because of it everything government wise takes fucking forever, one example would be joining the Military. How often are we now seeing ADF ads? 2 years back you wouldn't see shit and if you did it would online if you had ads on, now when you watch footy or any sport being played live you are likely to see ads for it. The reason being obviously is that our military has a massive lack of recruits when it comes to certain roles. i;e cooks, fueling, logi jobs, the type of job where you don't do tacticool stuff. But say if you wanted to do one of those roles, I hope you like waiting up towards a year or more since our recruiting is done by a private company that operates in Sweden or some shit.

Not to powerlevel, but some of my mates who tried to join ended up giving up after 1 year and decided to go to the mines, all because of red tape.

We're already there. I don't agree with a lot of his content nowadays, but FriendlyJordies was uploading videos criticising John Barillaro a few year ago, and one of his employees and his family got targeted by an Anti-Terrorism police unit at the behest of John Barillaro. His employees mum was thrown to the ground and pretty sure they kicked his dog or something as well. This failed and his employee was released after like a week of no one knowing where he was or what he was being charged with. After this, FriendlyJordies house was conveniently firebombed and luckily he was out of state when it happened, but it almost ended up killing his neighbours. This happened a few years ago, and to this day, they haven't arrested or charged anyone and he has very openly stated he believes they aren't even investigating it at all because of his criticisms of the government at the time.

If confronted by coppers, pull out your phone and record the interaction.
Ask, "Do you have an arrest warrant?"
They will try to talk their way around this e.g. "Oh, there's no need for that, we just want to have a chat with you..." This is, of course, a lie. They want to get you to incriminate yourself.
Just keep repeating the question, "Do you have an arrest warrant?" until they say "No".
Politely say "Goodbye" and shut your door.
DO NOT invite them into your home. Preferably don't even open the door to talk to them.

I'm gonna disagree, cops do a shit job for shit pay, at least these days, and the point was they are supposed to protect people. It's really hard to be a cop now even if you are idealistic, but for the idealistic that makes it even harder because even if you do believe in serving you are going to cop a lot of shit. Like when some nigger charges you with a knife and you shoot him dead and the public rally to denounce you in a suburb that is the most well known drug den in the whole fucking state. If a nigger rushes you with a knife he has a better chance of killing you before you can draw your service weapon and shoot them, also when you shoot them you're in for a big fuck of bullshit with your job, when you got a house, a mortgage, kids. For cops it's much easier to not shoot a nigger rushing you with a knife, but would you consider your life or resort to your evidence based training?

I will assert that most cops are based. They just have to toe a line to keep their security in this awful ponzi system we live in. You would do that too. I'm gonna try to get off my high police horse, uniform changes to make them look like para was unpopular with the majority of members, remember it's all top down. Cops are not trying to fuck you up, they all still serve an oath of service and most are on side, they just can't push back and get fired because they have mouths to feed. I'm trying to reconcile the treatment of cunts during COVID, but overtime and only requiring a subset of the force could make sense, especially with overtime and mouths to feed.

I am trying to get up to speed with what happened with Victoria during the lockdowns to put this into context.
