Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has suggested that he may not attend the funeral of the late Pope Francis in Rome on Saturday.

"If I cannot make it, Ukraine will be represented with dignity. The Foreign Minister [Andrii Sybiha] and the First Lady [Olena Zelenska] will be present," Zelensky told journalists in Kiev.

On Thursday, the Russian military launched a massive combined missile and drone attack against Ukraine, killing at least 12 people in the capital, Kiev.

Referring to the possibility of cancelling his trip to Rome, Zelensky said: "For me, it was important to be here."

I'd be more willing to entertain Kiev's "never surrender" attitude if they were actually being invaded and conquered by a true foreign entity and culture, but the people of Crimea don't want to be part of Ukraine. They are Russian. The Ukranian govt. is the entity that shut off their water and Zelensky is the man who made tasteless jokes about it on national television.



It's one thing to die to protect your land. It's another to send people to die over land that doesn't want you.

Well, maybe this was just one general with a very altisonant title. is not that every general can get escort and security. he was driving his own car and was not a mercedes either.
as for who did it, rigging up cars to blow up that way is not something one can do in his garden shed as sunday project. and at the first attempt. i have a very well supplied workshop but would take me several attempts to build an effective and safe (for me) bomb.
need explosives, knowledge how to use them, how to detonate them remotely and at the right time, how to install them so the car is literally shredded to pieces and the guy inside killed, be able to install them without being noticed, and so on. and this is a field where on the job training doesnt work.
so i would argue this was not some freelancer but professionals with possibly a nation state behind. make it the MI6, CIA, some ukrop outfit, whatever. to execute these attacks will be easy as russia is full of ukros and they cant be easily spotted. the military value of these attacks is zero. but the message is clear. this will go on for years, possibly decades. and from the russian perspective, in my uneducated view, the only effective answer would be a tit for tat.

The issue isn't around Ukraine actually having that land, the issue is about Russia wanting Ukraine to admit Crimea isn't its land. Subtly different, but it ensures Crimea will never be Ukrainian land at any point in the future. I can see how that could be difficult because Ukraine will have its eye on getting back parts of the East that are predominantly Russian but were part of the original Ukrainian State. If they admit that Crimea is Russian, Russia can easily point to the East's demographics and historically Russian populace and compare it with Crimea to justify keeping it in negotiations.

I'm not for, against or passing judgement, that's just how Ukraine will see it and why it's a sticking point in negotiation.

not sure it would make any difference. they would install Zalusny or some other figure firmly under the control of MI6 and CIA
there is too much money and ego involved in this conflict. really nobody of any importance wants it to end except maybe trump (and that is a big maybe because he could end it with one phone call) and the poor sods being sent to die at the front

Point D: Why is he still larping as a soilder? He's wearing fucking army boots to the pope's funeral. He's not even wearing any form of military dress, he's just trying to look all Hugo Boss with his own style.

He's a jew, why would he have any respect for the Pope in death, or Catholics in general? Remember, he gave this blasphemous icon to the Pope when they first met, and expected to be lauded for it.

I heard that Gerasimov said that North Koreans were fighting in Kursk but the video is in Russian (which I don't know) and I don't know if its legit or AI.

Assuming that it is real I am honestly more impressed by how Ukraine somehow was really fighting Norks yet never was able to provide verifiable proof throughout the entire period (Always giving blurry videos of Asians, saying they had POWs only to forget about them, and so on) and that it was Russia who in the end confirmed it... That is if it is real and not BS, in which case I deserve all the dumb ratings you throw at me.

I watched the original longer video and yeah, he really said that they were bravely fighting alongside russian forces.
The thing is, earlier Russia said that north koreans are not fighting directly on the frontline, but serve mostly as logistical support. That allowed to free some russian hands to support frontlune. And in the video it is hard to tell what exactly north koreans did. But in my opinion ukies could not capture any north koreans because on the front line there were none.

That explains a lot. I was open to the idea that the Ukrainians were being truthful for a few weeks, but then when they started to present evidence that was quickly proven wrong, such as that hilariously bad fake ID or presenting a guy with a Koryo-mar accent as a North Korean I drifted into thinking it was just another propaganda push.

The one and only thing that actually stuck with me was a North Korean built SPA unit being spotted, and I guess that does apply with them only helping in the rear.

Regardless, its pretty pitiful how they couldn't even be honest about North Korean troops helping out and instead had to embellish the story with claims that infinity Nork meatwaves were being mowed down daily and that Chairman Kim was the man who saved the war for Russia.
