Anime/Manga - Discuss Japanese cartoons and comics here; NO CULTURE WAR DOOMPOSTING!

Fuck. It. I still got all my (very abused) DVD'S of Bakugan S1. That shit is a anime. Imma gonna rewatch it.
This hovered in my feed for a week before I watched it, now I feel the dreaded N word. Nostalga. Let us see if Bakugan was true kino or shit lads.
I've finished the first disc, or 5 episodes of the OG series. I'm surprised it didn't freeze up, it was scuffed to hell lol.

In any case, Bakugan is very much 2008, which is when it was released in English, when the non homosexuals watched it. The voice acting and general animation is perfectly fine. The premise is where it gets wild.

I think we all know what a Bakugan is. Fun to stick on metal like the fridge. But did you know Bakugan die when they are killed GO TO THE DOOM DIMENSION because this shit airs on Cartoon Network for 5 year olds, death doesn't exist, they just get banished.

I will say, Dan and Drago have a decent dynamic that supposedly "better" anime fail at. They take 4 episodes to nail down their rhythm, which out of 52, isn't much, but is enough to establish a baseline and give reasons why they fight and shit.

Also the rules are asspulls, though not as much as YuGiOh if memory of the game serves. They generally try to make the battles feel tense and nor just "my dragon marble has a bigger dick than your mantis marble, die.exe". Power levels mattered. Then they didn't, but that's a few seasons from now, so shhh.

TL;DR, my childhood holds up

What are you guys' thoughts on Xitter negroes calling the new "Even The Student Council Has Holes" anime pedoslop despite none of the sexualized characters looking like kids?
I'm not really interested in the show but legit the same logic can be applied to 1,000 year old loli characters where the fictional age makes it fine. These fags are tiresome

EDIT: this gave me a chuckle

Well, what do ya know? These folks totally pulled it off!

I caught wind of it yesterday on 4chan. Long story short, you remember that classic boomer Tenchi franchise? Some fans here in America actually snagged the rights to it. Apparently, all they had to do was show the big shots in Japan that there’s still love for it with a kickstarter of some reprints of old American Tenchi comics, and boom—they nailed it in less than a week!

They’re calling themselves Armiger Entertainment, and they’re hyped to make American Tenchi stuff, kinda like Tenchi Universe, ‘cause they’re not super stoked with how Kajishima’s, the OG creator, has been handling the franchise. Honestly, I’m just pumped to see more Kiyone and Ryoko, so no complaints here!

They are high schoolers put in sexual situations/swimsuits for the audience. Sounds like pedoslop to me.
0:07 of that twitter clip is all I need as proof.

Yeah I'm not going to shit post on X about how you're a pedo for liking "funny" slice of life anime about high schoolers with band-aid pasties but at the same time they got a point. It's not a hill I'd choose to die on and the argument isn't ENTIRELY bad faith like when they did it about Rebecca or Uzaki.

The plus side of a proper reprint of the old American Tenchi Universe spin-off comics is that they'll actually be, you know, readable.

If you bought the American Tenchi Muyo OVA 1 & 2 DVD boxset from 1999, they actually did have every issue of that comic as a DVD-ROM bonus feature except that they really shouldn't have bothered since the pages were scanned in such low resolution as to be utterly illegible.

Tenchi might (and I mean might since I was so retardedly young I can only remember one hazy scene) be the very first anime thing I ever observed. If it wasn't the first then it's a close second to what I would later learn to be the DBZ movie "Dead Zone". I can't remember anything concrete, but the main guy was definitely Tenchi. Some blue-haired chick was basically hanging on his arm and trying to fuck with another girl by saying she was gonna have Tenchi's baby. Crazy shit, but certainly attention grabbing.

All Xiggers are cordially invited to kill themselves at their earliest possible convenience. The promo looks fun so I will probably check it out (and lose interest by episode 3 because it'll be another boring harem romcom).

Will it have a harem end like the original continuity only with Kiyone in it?

Question about Sailor Moon manga.
I saw there's the Eternal Edition and Naoko Edition. Financially speaking, I imagine the Naoko Edition would be best. It seems small and compact. I know you lose the color pages though...even the color pages from the Kodansha editions?

I decided to check the manga of this adaption since it's been defended here.
From what I just read: Most of the cast are in their first year of high school (15+).
The trap character is a third-year middle schooler (14+).
14 years old.webp
This is the first introduction of that 14-year-old "trap" character, I censored the nipple but it wasn't censored in the original pic.
I read five chapters total, and they were sexualized every single time they appeared.

Is there a reason why some people in this thread are claiming this isn't pedoslop? Is it a partisan issue because you don't want to admit hood weebs are actually right for once?

It is less that people are defending it, and more that I think people do not care. At the very least, I don't. For one, this is Japanese, they have a very different culture, and I have long accepted that I need to tolerate their differing sensibilities if I am going to consume their entertainment. Secondly, I do not care about fiction. I care about actual kids. I am not going to get bent out of shape over some dime-a-dozen horny gag manga that will probably have a thoroughly mediocre or outright bad adaption when I could reserve the energy and focus of being angry about children being victimized. I get very mad when it's children, but I don't care when it is a drawing.

If this bothers you this deeply, then you should stop consuming Japanese entertainment for your own sake. Seriously, you are just going to have an aneurysm if you keep consuming anime and manga when you clearly can not handle the Japanese humor and proclivities that are inherent to it.
