These people haven't the foggiest idea what communism was actually like. I'd like to put them in a room with people who've lived through it and see what they think then. I've got some family stories but don't want to powerlevel.

And being a Millennial doesn't excuse them, it's just the fact that they don't teach about it in schools in the US and Western Europe (probably). In Eastern Europe you know pretty well what it was like, even when you're a Millennial. Provided you live in a country that is not overtly influenced by Russia at the moment.

How many are living on ? Communism tends to appeal most to those who can't/don't support themselves as living as they are in western societies means they get money for breathing and have no concept of how most people work for what they have. To them anybody with more only has it due to privilege or luck, nothing else. So communism sounds great, they'll get more, and those greedy people who have more than them will have exactly the same, or slightly less than them.
