Sperg about comic books here

I don't mean to derail the thread, but has anyone read / anyone's thoughts on Into the Unbeing,?

I read it online and am quite surprised. This, the new Ultimate Universe and re-reading the pre-New 52 universe titles I missed have been good stories.

Still going through Dazzler. Keeping the letters pages is something all omnibuses need to do i feel. They even kept the face paint winner thing in. Although I don't believe they ever used it for her.

Angel/Warren Worthington is a creep. He keeps trying to get with Dazzler. It is to the point that he buys an actual restaurant out so that he can impress her...even though she's with her lawyer boyfriend. I don't even mean this in a sjw woke shit way. Its so odd. Not as creepy as the Kitty/Pitor shit (and before that Pitor loses his virginity to two women in the Savage Land and there's something unsettling the way it is written).

Dazz also ran into She Hulk, Spider Woman, and Absorbing Man. She's currently trying to find her missing mom.

Warren is a weird fucking character. Prior to the X-Factor stuff, he felt like a stuffed shirt. His money was the reason he did some things. I think he bankrolled the Champions? Anyways, his GF died or slid into irrelevancy and I recall Cameron Hodge became a villain. I've been neutral on Dazzler. She feels like Iron Fist and Luke Cage in that she's indicative of the trends of a time and place. Don't know how well she's evolved.

Modern comics are too edgy and depressing for me. When Mr. Fantastic and Iron Man started to blow up planets in Time Runs Out I decided comics just weren't for me anymore.

I feel like HIckman could have executed all of that far better. I get the idea, but it was one planet. Namor decided to join the Cabal and he paid the price for that in the end. (Executed by Black Bolt and T'CHalla)

Don't forget, Tony was fucked for half of that run because he was "inverted" and the entire situation was royally fucked. I liked the bit at the end where the Illuminati were admonished for not making all of this public and pooling everything they had. The ideas that went into this era were interesting. They had Superior-SPiderman, the Death of Wolverine, Geriatric Cap, Unworthy Thor, and Inverted Tony. I wonder if it was meant to show the most influential heroes as not being themselves so they wouldn't be able to pull the Marvel Universe out of a death spiral. We saw Strange essentially play with eldritch forces, sell part of his soul, and wind up getting the chance to become a god (and say no, letting Doom get the power).

The entire thing wasn't executed as well as I'd have liked, but it was still better than the retards who hijacked the Krakoa era for their own masturbatory purposes.

Anyways, Time Runs Out was kinda just a spectacle. Inverted Tony just used an incomplete Dyson Sphere and nuked an intergalactic alliance fleet that was to destroy Earth. Thor and Hyperion went out guns blazing. Black Widow and Spider-Woman lost the "ark" scientists, activated the contingency plans.

and we find out Doom rewrote the fantastic four to. . . make himself marry Sue Storm.

I don't even get that one. I'm guessing he's respected her, but wasn't it Namor who wanted to shag her?

That part was great. And the Thor becoming worthy again in his dying moment

Hickman nailed the writing for that moment.

Meanwhile, it's amusing that they picked Thor, the Superman stand-in (Hyperion), and Jim Shooter's star hero (Starbrand) for that final stand at the edge of creation.

I liked Hickman and the artist he had. They just had plenty of decently executed moments. Thanos telling the Ultimate Universe's Nick Fury and Maker what they'd have to do to protect their world.

Hickman's not the greatest, but he's alright. I loved the last stand of Thor and the Cabal getting the Ultimate Universe to arm up. Neatly done dramatic bits. I do think the end of TIme Runs Out with Cap and Tony killing each other was just not executed that well but that may be due to Tony being inverted.

If Duggan or any of the hacks Marvel used to finish Krakoa had even understood how to set up this kinda story and execute even on par with Hickman, they wouldn't have had so criticism. The Krakoa era not selling well after HIckman bailed was predictable. The whining and cope was just sad.

I loved the Thor/Hyperion bros, and yes, that last moment was Hickman firing on all cylinders and doing great stuff

it makes me sad we didn't get some of Hickman's potential best in his X-Men because of all the faggotry.

No wait, we kinda did.

My favorite X-Men. I really do think Hickman would have likely shown a top tier Kurt Wagner story in his Krakoa era if they'd let him. It hurts me a little.

Sometimes you just want a good friendship in comics

Marvel Comics Exec Editor Says ‘Marvel Rivals’ Has No Effect On Print Plans, Believes Character Popularity “Has More To Do With Play Mechanics That It Does The Character Themselves”

Rivals fans: "Oh hey this character seems pretty cool, why aren't they this cool in the movies or comics these days?"

Marvel: "Uh, they only like them for the mechanics. We need to keep pandering to talking heads on Twitter who don't actually read our slop, but just post panels from it."
Its the MCU all over again.

"Hey, our film universe is taking off. Let's kill all our popular characters and replace them with sassy black women."

to be fair, Marvel Rivals is made by chinks who just wanted to deliver a good product and didn't give a fuck about idpol shenanigans

I'd be surprised if they didn't try to like, bring Galacta into the mainstream Marvel stuff in a year or so. Every other character in the game is mainstream or semi-mainstream (the new Iron Fist, Squirrel Girl).

Goyslop rivals is actually a pretty good game. If you git gud, you can end up getting the premium battle pass for free by just playing probably 20 minutes a day for a week or two and not being retarded about grinding your missions. It's upsetting how this free to play straight up slop game is better than a lot of multiplayer games where you have to pay for the base game and then all the DLCs (I'm looking at you dead by daylight). It's one of the only games where playing a support class doesn't make me want to suck start a shotgun. If I want to be sweaty I can do competitive or quick play, but if I just want to relax and grind out a mission or two I can do practice versus AI.
Also Emma Frost has a fat ass.

it also didn't try to shove niggers in my face. T'Challa, Storm, Cloak, etc. are just there in their usual selves. Squirrel Girl isn't some weird neo-millennial but just a dorky eccentric like she was in the 00s.

Can't wait for some breadtuber to whine for 3 hours about why this is bad.

Picked up the print edition of the marvel rivals comic. It's alright as far as ads/tie ins go. Shame rivals is probably the best thing to come outta the house of ideas in years and yet Dan Buckley had to be an idiot and say. "The game will not be influential to any of our comics and their writing or art." When the fucking chink devs understand what gamers and comic fans want better than Americans you know you fucked your self five ways to Sunday.

Also picked up rocket and groot in a digest collection. The skottie young rocket raccoon is probably the best solo work the little guy gets aside bill mantlo's original series from 85.

Rocket and groot was published in 2016 often considered the ground zero of clown word and it shows. In issue 9 Gwenpool (who I think wasn't asexual at the this point never cared for her) does a shitty Deadpool forth wall break saying how "a torn costume on a female character promotes sexual violence on real women" and I legit can't tell if nick kocher (took over from skottie from issues 6 to 10) was being serious about that shite or was taking the piss outta it since that was becoming the norm in woke comic writing at the time.

idk but I think the 00s GoTG/Cosmic Marvel stuff with Abnett/Lanning did a fine job reintroducing Rocket and Groot.

Agreed to bad it was sandwiched in the annihilation even that even back then all but the most die hard marvel cosmic fans knew was going on.

I'll never forgive Disney for being retards and forcing the marvel cosmic stuff to conclude super fast and also somehow wind up getting a new GoTG book with Starlord somehow alive again (and required 1-2 years wait time to get an explanation of what happened).

hell, I remember DC's 00s Cosmic stuff too, they had it very Captain Comet/Adam Strange oriented with Starfire and Hawkman and a few others popping up. It ended on a cliffhanger that never got any resolution.
