Yea, there are people who pick up random shifts, they're called teenagers. They just needed some extra cash and a shift time that didn't interfere with school. Alyssa really is stuck in the adolescence mindset.

And if I'm being honest, the "friends who own bars/restaurants" is just another lie, from having done a few interviews for a busboy/dishwasher position when I was a teenager I'm guessing she just got a trial shift and they haven't called her back with an employment offer (gee I wonder why).
