Yeah I don’t think chinese games can really hold foot on their own as their famous games so far has been X but with bigger budget. Black Myth Wukong is souls / ninja gaiden like, Genshin is just BoTW ripoff, and many others. Their primary focus is to create something that sells, never one that was purely for fun or unique.

In Japan we got very unique creator like Swery, Suda51, Shinji Mikami whose games ideas are always weird. They like to try out something new which doesn’t always bring in the money. I don’t remember China having this sort of unique director, probably because they want to stamp out individuality to make something that is not wholly offensive to the country itself. The same can be said to Korea, whose innovation has been MMO addiction and Boobs on shitty gameplay (Look up Electric Underground review of Stellar Blade for a critical one)
i kinda disagree with the genshin part. yes, mondstadt & liyue (first 2 regions; patches 1.0 to 1.6) feel like botw rip-offs, with the glider and the early domains being clear zelda temples.
but from inazuma to present (patch 2.0 to 5.5), it's really different. the focus is on one really long story + 2 types of combat. 1st is the casual just mash buttons. 2nd type of fights are optional AND masochistic (you don't need to pay extra). you just need to level up, get the weapons, artifacts, talent levels, and to get good. know i-frames, stamina management, attack openings, and elemental reactions, resistances, plus immunities (along with newer OR BS mechanics the game developer comes up with.)

in botw, i just explored, did quests, upgraded my stuff, killed shit, and did temples. and then finished the story, guardian beasts, and finally the castle + final boss.

My opinion of Genshin was based on early launch so I do not know how it is at the moment. But knowing that it’s been up a few years they might have fixed in the initial complaint of Genshin being similar to BOTW.

I have never experienced the harder combat encounter that require actual full on skill to play in Genshin, mostly because it requires so much investment to actually get to the good challenging fight that isn’t a one shot because your gear is too low. I’m the type of person who always envied late game content of MMO where things actually looked so cool, but never having that motivation to push through the starting area because most of these games are designed so that you have cost sunk fallacy. I mean, not that I’m immune to it myself since Dota 2 is one of my favorite game and it’s a MOBA that made you lose faith in humanity. But if you are having fun with the game, good on you :D

thankfully the grind to compete in the unreasonable challenges is more of a time and patience grind. using a credit card won't help if the player sucks donkey balls at the game's combat mechanics. and the key reqs are just artifacts and talent levels. the paid weapons and constellations can only help so much. like shitters will not know what to do with a fluke good lead in some co-op game, and less skilled players won't know how to properly utilize giga runewords in hell diablo 2.

"I agree but there hasn't really been a compelling number FF since X. XII, XIII, XV, ... " -that gunter guy

soy, there's a period after X (or FF10). meaning X is the end point/ cut-off of what he doesn't consider mediocre to bland. After X, he then lists the misses for him.
Oh. My retarded ass didn’t notice the period.

The reason why these slops are considered to be "masterpiece" now is cause how woke and shit western games have become.
And Japanese.

The real reason China even has a chance in the games industry is because Japan produces the same souless woke slop that the west does now.

Japan, just like the west, has a couple of very specific game genres they like creating now, (souls and anime Jrpgs) but much like the west they sometimes create games that slightly deviate from this. (fighting games and in the case of Nintendo platformers) All these games are derivative of the games they used to make and are injected with western politics.

China and Korea (CURRENTLY) doesn't have that issue, their issue is that that their games are also derivative of old Japanese games, but because Japan is also woke now China and Korea win out for the most part.

In short, I'd rather play dumb monkey man game than Dark souls #gorillian because the dumb monkey man game is just as good and won't even ask me what my body type/pronouns are.

You hit the nail right on the head. We have so much shit that mediocre chinkslop is literally the best thing ever because it’s slightly above shit-tier. This also applies to new games that come out that are just good, not even great. Because when everything that releases is literal unplayable dogshit, it stands out in comparison.

I can't believe Death Stranding 2 comes out in like a month. I haven't seen a single advertisement nor have I heard anyone talking about it.

Is it literally over for Kojimboslop?
Just wait for the expedition 33 and oblivion remake hype to die down.
These two didn't have that much marketing either.
If it is any good, it will sell well and of course, the shills will shill it as usual.

What the Egad has just released another banger video where he explains why Synth will never become a lolcow, here's the link

Egad is a faggot. 40-something man defending the honor of a 30 year old guy talking about video games. He also got bullied out of Kiwi Farms and keeps making up excuses as to why he can't post here anymore.

The "complete disdain over the japanese industry" makes me remember the late 2000's, so nostalgic now.

I used to be really into JRPGs during the snes-ps1-ps2 era but now I can't really get into them.

The blatant "inspirations" for E33 are kind of a turn off to be honest and I don't feel like trying it out.
For me, the turn to making JRPGs glorified TV shows has been a big reason why I lost interest. Cutscenes used to be special and something to look forward to, with most the character interactions and story beats being in game with in game graphics; even if you weren't "playing", you were still at least interacting with the game, and had a lot more choice in what to see or not see and who to talk to or not talk to. Now, these games will have 50+ hours of god damned cutscenes, and a lot of the times they aren't even good or interesting.

We have fallen upon evil times
and the world has waxed very old and wicked.
Politics are very corrupt.
Children are no longer respectful to their parents.
-Namsin King of Chaldea 2500BC

This kind of "gotcha" has always been really fucking stupid. Has it ever occurred to you, or anyone else who uses this approach, that people lamented the degradation of society because society was actively degrading? Where the fuck is his kingdom now? Where are the civilizations of most these quotes "proving" that criticizing the state of society is silly because someone else had the same problem in the past? The idea that I am supposed to think everything is hunky-dory just because some guy in 2500 BC had similar problems is utterly asinine.

I would argue that the cringe fucking retards are the ones too stupid to comprehend that issues like societal decay, corruption, and wayward children are not unique and have afflicted and killed many civilizations throughout the existence of our species.

Egad, if you want Synth to become a lolcow, keep talking about how he will never become a lolcow. You make yourself look like the sort of mongoloid who would protest that Finnster will never be trans, he's just a confident crossdresser.

It's because of hardware limitations. Just like modern games can afford to use UE5, which is a 115 GB game engine, they can afford to bloat the game with hours of "cinematic" slop. On PS1 and PS2 you had serious limitations on file size from the physical media the game was stored on, so that often times the audio files would not even be CD quality, so they simply could not put tons of MP4 files on the disc, and they had to choose the 10% or so most interesting scenarios for cutscenes. This is the big problem with MGS4, lots and lots of cutscene time for scenes with little interesting going on, and the visuals are often powerpoint slides, because Blu-ray technology enabled this sort of waste. Unfortunately, the industry never grew out of the mindset that everything in a cutscene is interesting simply because it is a cutscene which plagued MGS4.
