Ah interesting, thanks for the insight.Eh not really, our Senate isn't the same as the US given it's entirely appointed and is intended on acting as a chamber of "sober second thought" (no need to guess how well that works in practice). The lack of electoral legitimacy means the Senate isn't eager to rock the boat, and outside of the occasional grandstanding will quickly bend over and approve whatever Parliament passes - not doing so calls their cushy living into question, and calling it into question is one small step away from Senate reformation or abolition.
I hope your country makes it out alive. I pity the UK and Australia, and it’d be nice to see another country not get absolutely fucked over.This has Trump 2016 and 2024 levels of doubt but I'm willing to concede gay ass rainbows though.
