What is the point of arguing this? From a moral perspective, it doesn't matter. The net effect is that pedophiles are being protected by Discord."Do not use Discord API data to: profile users, their identities, relationships with other users or protected charectaristics." It feels like some of you jumped to a gigantic conclusion that Discord protects pedos based on an automated E-mail that tells very little.
You don't know which individual thing or combination of things initiated the ban, you assume that it was the part where the "victims" were pedos, not that the automated ban-list could infringe on other rules, such as exposing identity or relationships with other users.
Not only that, if we (especially Ruben) don't know what initiated the ban, that is a point against it, not in favor. If there was some specific rule that Ruben was violating, it would be helpful for Discord to discuss it with him so they can figure out a way to comply with them. But Discord didn't do that. They denied his appeal and told him nothing besides a vague reason.
It's clear from Discord's statement and their actions that they don't want to ban pedophiles, and they think they should be allowed to be in spaces with minors.
