If there was some specific rule that Ruben was violating, it would be helpful for Discord to discuss it with him so they can figure out a way to comply with them. But Discord didn't do that. They denied his appeal and told him nothing besides a vague reason.

It's clear from Discord's statement and their actions that they don't want to ban pedophiles, and they think they should be allowed to be in spaces with minors.

If we're "jumping to conclusions", then let me point out a few thing's on why people understandably think discord is protecting Predators.

Ro cleaner was designed to help filter out potential threats in communities and filters people who are in nsfw servers and condos, also condo's are only infamously known to contain a lot of predators so could you blame anyone?.

Also ask yourself why there are adults who lurk nsfw servers who are likely desensitized to nsfw whilst also joining servers related to a kids platform who are joining nsfw servers hosting games that contain sex as well as degenerate content on a kids platform that host discord servers that hardly get moderated or taken down.

You have to ask the question tho, why exactly Discord would prioritize banning cleaner bots (made in good faith, and may or may not break Discord TOS) and not explaining how to modify the bots to comply with TOS, over banning pedophiles and forwarding their information to the appropriate authorities.

I think a large part of it is that Discord doesn't want to open the door to it. I doubt they want any sort of bots that have an impact like that. I would love to see every pedo get nuked off the earth but if that entails Discord admins reading PMs of people under mild suspicion of chomoisms, I don't want it. That opens pandora's box. Then nothing is stopping them justifying banning users for other forms of speech I figure we are more likely to have.

Because enforcing rules differently based on the fact that the victims deserved it is a terrible business move and not how it should work anywhere. I highly doubt Discord wants to keep pedos around, but I also think it makes sense for a company to save face by being fair in dishing out bans. I don't care if pedos get banned, I would prefer they did, but if the bot breaks some part of the TOS, one we can't be 100% certain of, it makes sense for it to be deleted

I agree, it is retarded that a ban on a bot that specifically deals with very bad people doesn't get a specialized message that clearly outlines the reason for the ban, that is a PR fuckup of the highest order.

I agree they shouldn't be around either way. I fear Discord more actively monitoring servers is a sword with two edges. It gets rid of people that walk the tightrope with the TOS as is, pedos and edgy teens alike. In a more just world those pedos would be dead or slaves
