I don’t even know what’s meant by “faulty earplugs.” It was little chunks of foam you stick in your ears, right?

The testing was flawed and when they corrected for it they found that the ratings weren’t what they were supposed to be. There was no direct evidence that the ear plugs were ineffective or caused tinnitus.

In fact, there’s no real evidence that sound causes permanent hearing loss or tinnitus at all other than correlations. I remain skeptical and I believe that there are two components to tinnitus: one is that everyone has it to a small degree and that people, especially musicians, learn to pick up on it as they get older. The other is that there is a physical manifestation that creates sounds in the ear triggered by jaw position, blood flow, etc. I believe caffeine is one such trigger.

I have tinnitus, muscular tinnitus, and brief episodes of deafness in a single ear. All three are more likely to occur when I drink caffeine or when I lack sleep.

He walks out with the money, and the new owner waits a bit, then calls the number on the card. It's a false number, of course, and any professional will immediately recognize that the violin is worth perhaps fifty dollars, and the old man and the "dealer" meet up to split the take and get another cheap violin.

The key step that everyone forgets is, 99% of the time, the "Data" imported is full of garbage that a human has to weed out first. It took me a long time to adjust my expectations and stop projecting myself onto npc’s. You just basically assume that everyone you interact with functions roughly about as well as you function, and can troubleshoot things and make them work.

I promise, you go to the DMV and there’s one person there capable of assisting when you have something unusual. For me, it was that I moved to another state and moved back later. Instead of reactivating my old license number, they made a new entry that conflicted with my deactivated one. It took weeks to get in touch with the one person in the DMV who could process theoretical frameworks to even formulate a guess at what could cause the problem they were having

I've noticed the same. Lack of sleep can cause my tinnitus to become almost unbearable. Elevated blood pressure is also a big one that I've picked up on over the years although it's not as consistent as the lack of sleep.
