Though I'll note the actual story says there was a previous incident like this and it was actually two Japanese men who did it. I'm not sure groid tourists would even know where the cash box is.

Fact is you never heard about these things in the past. It's only in recent years that you occasionally hear of machines being vandalized like this.
Sure, but is it actually "tourists" or is it just the japanese themselves doing it in a location where it would be easy to blame tourists? It's not like they don't have a shortage of their own problems that are going to blow up in their face sooner rather than later.

Not that I've heard, but there's certainly a lot of people with money problems and other issues. Every now and then some weird story about some old lady busted for dealing drugs will pop up, or morons spending all of their money at host/hostess clubs, livestreamers, or even just gambling and then doing some criminal shit for cash, nutjobs who do stupid shit like the guy who travelled halfway across the country to some island full of rabbits just to stomp on a few dozen live rabbits, and so on.

The first reaction of any Japanese person is to blame tourists or foreigners for any slight. After the big Tohouku earthquake of 2011 there were reports of foreigners raiding vending machines. Yet no evidence of it was ever found yet the idea continued to circulate.
In the case of the vending machines one case was done by two Japanese males but you tend to only hear of it when those filthy gaijin do it.
It's Japan. They're xenophobic as hell.
Not like they used to back in the day but they still exist and yes they can and will fuck you up if you run into a gang of them in some dark alley.
Japan does have it's seedy underbelly but it's not as bad as some make it out to be.
I mean it's not uncommon to see some obasan withdrawing a couple thousand dollars at the ATM, stuffing in an envelope and shuffling away. Japan is still a mostly cash society and it's still pretty safe. Armzy just has this romanticized view of it.

She's got even less to offer in Canada as in Japan.
In Japan her best choice would be to become a novelty. Be the stupid gaijin on a talk show that says stupid things, misunderstands common things the Nihonjin do and basically be a dancing monkey. Canada would look at her and say, "what can you offer" and her only skill is, "translation".
