What about Castle Bravo? we miscalculated how big it would actually be and accidentally zapped the entire ozone layer above it
to date its the largest US nuclear test of ALL TIME

When Trump and Obama agree 100% that nukes are bad, that's a sign.
tbf neither is too hot on atomics for energy either so they're kinda fucking retarded once you've gone fission

I have no clue what an actual nuke toss will do. DoD tests were built to scare Russians and Americans to get money so the classic family blowing up is basically as good as "two weeks to flatten the curve".
The idea everybody's packing infinity Tsar Bombas seems to be the pop culture idea of nuclear weapons.

This is obvious bullshit. Japan got nuked twice, it's fine. You know what country has been nuked way more than Japan? The US. Or did you think they just develop a new weapon and say "welp, hope it works when it comes time to use it!" A full nuclear exchange between India and Pakistan is like 500 detonations; this pales in comparison to the number of nuclear tests that have been conducted by the various nuclear armed states. Now obviously India and Pakistan wouldn't be fine, but you know why that is? Because they are fucking Indian/Pakistani saar!

Literally the only danger from this to anyone I give a shit about is that we'd take in refugees or spend money trying to fix shitstain countries that were unconscionable superfund sites BEFORE the bombs dropped. The correct stance is that a fullscale nuclear exchange amounts to taking out the garbage.

You are leaving out the entire concept of scale here. The nuclear tests done in Nevada were tiny compared to Hiroshima / Nagasaki. And THOSE bombs were tiny compared to modern nukes. That's like calling someone a pussy because they had 2 shots of alcohol and got sick, while not mentioning those two shots were Everclear and not the Fireball everyone else has.

"hup shi do go muh fugga ching chang chong chong gook gook mook spidook"
If you care to up your racism game then weebshit words almost always end in vowels, the primary exceptions being -an and -un. Throw in a random -u or -i and the occasional -o at the end of words and you'll be well on your way

When we did starfish, we didn’t know what would happen and we created an artificial radiation belt that kept destroying satellites that passed through it

100 Minuteman III warheads are worse than one Tsar Bomba. It's about scale.

Modern nukes are orders of magnitude more destructive, dude. The dust from a major nuclear exchange is a massive environmental problem.

When Trump and Obama agree 100% that nukes are bad, that's a sign.
Yeah, and when Fukushima got fucked up, Californians had to eat one banana fewer or they'd be over their USDA approved radiation levels. I get it, there will be effects...on people I don't like.

Listen, you like orders of magnitude? Let's do some math. We know what it takes to cause a year without a summer: Mount Tambora. I just checked, estimates are that was about 3 billion 30 billion tons tnt equivalent. Weapon yields for modern nukes are measured in at most tens of millions. You need to set off 1000 of the most destructive weapons to get into the ballpark; and with more representative weapons it's going to be at least 10000. That gets you a year of terrible weather and bad crop yields felt worldwide.

India and Pakistan aren't setting off 1000 tsar bombas. I get it, it could be bad. The whole thing about global consequences and nuclear winter was always overblown though. As far as I know, the theory leaned heavily on assuming enduring firestorms caused by the detonations doing most of the work.

Edit: LOL, I misread a decimal into the number, Tambora was 10x as bad as I initially stated! Added a 0 to most numbers.

do India and Pakistan even have enough to get close to that?

Nuclear weapons are a sin against god, never fails to blow me away how many ways to sunday they just shred all matter to nothing but ash.

If Intelligent Aliens ARE out there I promise you either they KNOW that we are the first recorded species to have developed atomics for the use of weaponizing against THEMSELVES then then backworked it into energy tech, or when they find us for the first time they are going to be as horrified as they could be.

"You mean to tell me they made the bombs just to better fight themselves? Did the group they hit die off? LESS THAN 50% CASUALTIES? What are these creatures made of? How come they havent conquered the galaxy, they appear to be moderately to highly intelligent on a Universe level average and they are far and away the most capable of successful war waging of any know species?"

"Well sir, preliminary scans show that they have never been fully unified against a common foe, our best understanding right now is that as long as they continue to belive there isent any outside threat to them they will never unify and put their terrifying abilites together"

"hmmm, well we will wanna put up some yellow tape around this, what did you say it was called again? Milky Ave? Ahhh Milky Way, sure sure, big yellow tape and make sure headquarters knows to make it clear to all federated systems that the humans sector is firmly off limits, just so we have some numbers how long are the bean counters saying they think it would take a unified earth to reach outside its star system?"

"Uhhhh, well its not great, I might not include that part. they are saying just with the nations called The Peoples Republic Of China and The United States Of America alone if their might was combined would have warp technology within the year of starting and light beam matter/data transduction within the decade all while finding ways to weaponize it in fashions very few if any know species would have the inclination to do let alone the skill. If you combine the rest of the world the numbers start to get REALLY scary, might wanna put up more than yellow tape"

I just realized that the internet is fast enough we could potentially some FANTASTIC photos of nuclear explosions before everything goes to shit.

there is absolutely no point because you literally can't argue with these people. you could prove it conclusively and they'd say the same shit
Then why are you arguing the point? I don't doubt there's Russian retardation mucking things up, but it falls into the box of "shit everyone does, but it's a Europoor nation with a Napoleon complex so why should I care?"

Russia has nukes. Yep. So does India and Pakistan and China, but India is actively barfing nepotistic retards all over the US's job market so I'm much more interested in navel gazing at shit skins nuking each other than I am worrying about the Kremlin buying facebook ads or funding Tim Pool (and complaining that he's doing a shitty job pushing their narrative).

I know I be said this before about other idiot people on this thread, but I think this guy might actually be a glowie like Christ, by the sounds of this guy he thinks we should start a war with Russia or some shit.

I like to think they represent just a tiny bit of the devastation humans are capable of. Wait until someone gets the idea to nudge a meteor into a course to crash on their enemy

I think aliens would be like “aww cute, they learned what atoms are”

My dear fellow, there is a litany of information concerning Russia's attempts to subvert the electoral process! I certainly hope you find such sources reliable and informative

this is literally the first source I found btw, we all know there is absolutely nothing that will ever convince you of anything that goes against your preconceived notions.

Everything the government put together in 2016-2017 to try and blame Russia for Trump's victory was completely discredited by the end of 2018 when the Mueller investigation ended with a wet fart and a big nothing.

Where the hell do you get your nuke info? Hollywood?
Nuke sizes have actually gotten smaller since the Cold War because of increased precision of delivery systems, you don't need a 5 megaton city killer when your weapon has a CEP of 200 meters (Minuteman III)
Nuclear Winter risk is also HIGHLY overdramatized, far more ash and soot has been put into the atmosphere by volcanoes before which didn't result in a new ice age.

I just want to know how Null will have the headline read.
I put my money down on "HOLY FUCK INDIA JUST NUKED PAKISTAN" or something similar and then if we're still here a few minutes later we'll get a big Ron Paul "IT'S HAPPENING" banner.

I know I be said this before about other idiot people on this thread, but I think this guy might actually be a glowie like Christ, by the sounds of this guy he thinks we should start a war with Russia or some shit.
They can't all be glowfags, there has to be at least a few retards in the mix.

I promise modern nukes have so much more punch and are airbursted no far from the ground to maximize explosive power that they kick up ORDER OF MAGNITUDES more dust
You do understand we airburst nukes to maximize the downward force and one of the reason we do that is that it minimizes the amount of material the nuke kicks up into the air, right? Nuclear Winter isn't real, Carl Sagan was a propagandist and communist, and his pushing of it was one of the reasons he was booted from academia.

If we weren't meant to achieve fission He wouldn't have made atomic piles.

Nuclear weapons are a sin against god, never fails to blow me away how many ways to sunday they just shred all matter to nothing but ash.
Ok, then what do you call the big asteroid impact or Mount Tambora? Look I didn't math out whether we could match it if we put every weapon in existence in a big pile and blew them all at once, but the combined yield of every test in history (plus the two dinky ones actually used against other humans) don't come close. Maybe the aliens could equally say "wow, what restraint, they harnessed such forces but were horrified by them and immediately swore off using the big new toys they were building."

Your view here is just self-centered. We are still buffeted by forces we can scarcely comprehend, and we have yet to do a tiny fraction back to the planet what it does to us. And the whole "they harnessed it for war, what monsters" thing...maybe one day an uncaring cosmos will send another extinction-class asteroid at us and we'll have another use for those weapons.

Also, it's funny everyone pointing out how the original tests were scrub-tier compared to today. Oppenheimer saw that first test and said he was become death. Well, 10^9 and 10^12 are equally unfathomable, but 10^9 is what we have at our disposal and 10^12 is what we're up against.
