I think their method for recognizing if it's a vpn poster goes beyond that. I used p2p vpn providers like tuxler, and 4chan gave me a hard time most times while trying to post. I don't trust any vpn that you either have to pay, runs advertisement or has been in The business for a long time

Yeah that's what happens, they ban the image hash. It's a deterrent
On your paragraph of captchas, it goes beyond that. The recent hack exposed how manipulated the captcha system is.
They will deliberately give you a hard time on captcha, and if you are a troubled user, they double it. The captcha actively screws with you. Even if you write it correctly, sometimes they give you an ambiguous captcha letter just so they can deny you, even though you wrote it right. It's total BS
i only saw the post that captchas had a 20% chance to fail. Could they even give you ambiguous captchas? I thought it was just some off the shelf solution, especially since they don't seem to have anything but a handful of par-time coders. Either way, I just used an automatic captcha solver and I could just bruteforce through the few captchas it couldn't solve.

This right here is the spirit of what 4chan has become and how the staff view it which is enough reason for me to never go back.
agreed. My joined date doesn't lie, I came here when it was hacked. Saw the new 4chan, i'm not planning on going back. Just a change on captcha timer is too little too late.
It was painfully obvious to anyone with 2 marbles upstairs in their head how slided and botted 4chan is. The same slide threads, automatically generated just popping up again as if nothing happened.
If someone was clueless then, came back to 4chan, and didn't become aware of how much of a joke the site is in terms of organic content, they will never make it. Forever a cluelesss victim.

And then all the cope threads "The feds did this!!!"
lmao, 4chan got punked by a soyhacker with a PDF exploit
a fucking PDF

I think the guy that did the hack, soy1338 made a thread specifically discussing his findings of how the captcha system worked. I saw that thread and got closure because I knew it deep down that there was something wrong with it, that I was getting screwed over as punishment. I'm of sound mind, no mental illness here...But it was the most schizo inducing shit. "Wait is the captcha getting harder and harder on me?" "I totally got it right why did it failed?"
turns out the captcha system they custom made had a "difficulty variable" that was correlated and received input from a "risk" value that every user has assigned to them. variables like country, but also your ban history and post history was received from the "difficulty" variable.
It's total slimy behaviour by 4chan.
gookmoot may be lazy, but 4chan was always dilligent on their captcha because the captcha difficulty and hassle translates to more 4chan passes
fuck em

They were never going to learn, and/or they wouldn't be tolerated anywhere else so they stuck to where they could scream like the schizos they are and spam all day.
But it was the most schizo inducing shit. "Wait is the captcha getting harder and harder on me?" "I totally got it right why did it failed?"
Even before I checked out long before the hacking, I felt like this was the case and I remembered being really confused that I did solve it. Then I simply resorted to lurking after seeing no point to interact, and then I got sick of the repeating baits, same thread freakouts, and arguments, which proved there was nothing there for me.

But then nothing’s encrypted between cloudflare and the website. At all. Even if your site admins would never willingly cooperate with LEO or give out your info, if they’re on cloudflare , they’re just never going to know.
Yet another win for the Farms because nool rolled his own DDoS retarder.
Only now I think people may start returning to forums or making their own because of a tumorous hellscape other places have become as a result.
And it's sad that even Web 1.0 shit like this is the only alternative. I think there's a crying need for the anonymity of imageboards like 4chan (and to this day it is the only imageboard of any significance especially since the death of 8chan and its return as whatever the fuck it is now).

That immediately got rid of me for good. That torture captcha is utter shit. I never even learned to use it since they ban VPNs anyway (great "anonymous" imageboard). I believe there are plugins to solve it but who cares? I was done with it at that point.

So maybe he sells more passes but the passes are worth less and less because most people who aren't utter cucks aren't going to put up with all the shitty nonsense needed to post at all, timeouts, fag shit like that, dipshit captcha, deranged troon jannies.

Who's going to put up with that? People joke about jannies doing it for free, but if you're posting there, you're literally either paying for the privilege of generating content and data for hiroshimoot or jumping through a bunch of hoops just to do it. The main people who will do it are bot farmers and utterly obsessed schizos. So you have an imageboard that is now mostly just paid spam, fedposters, schizos, and Discord trannies.

You don't even get the high quality schizoposting on /x/ that you used to. The site is such shit it's even driven off the high quality schizos!

I've seen plenty of people say they're going back out of simplistic familiarity, even if they aren't getting any real enjoyment out of it. I've seen people smugly say that they always loved 4chan and ragebait and schizo arguments are just part of the culture, then proudly shutting the door on everyone else. I've seen people say they plan to lurk and not post but Christ knows they'll give into temptation even if the anon they're responding to is a bot created by Ranjeesh Abdul in Sri Lanka. Finally I've seen people say they aren't entertaining the idea of 4chan period either here or on alt boards. Honestly even if the staff wants to powertrip now they can't deny the amount of division and confusion they've sown from their own hubris and arrogance, a process that didn't even start with the hack but many years ago.

At a point it (anonymity's necessity) is like needing helmets to run head first into a brick wall.
If you don't run headfirst into brick walls, you don't need helmets.
Civilization is running head first into brick walls.
The internet was a mistake, it should be intranets that gatekeep their own regional network, everything should exist in a defined jurisdiction for accountability. the internet exceeds jurisdiction and so it exceeds accountability.
This should be applied to trade and commerce as well, things like Google (for example) shouldn't exist where they are accountable in only their own (((protected))) jurisdiction despite being operational outside of that jurisdiction.
They're just going to keep running us headfirst into the brick wall though because they like this status quo, and no one wants to reform it because they're invested in it. People are going to have to opt-out, withhold support/patronage, parallel society, breakaways, etc, and try to build/fortify regionalization (decentralization) organizational doctrine to protect themselves from the malignance of centralization organizational doctrine.
We rolled a very irritating epoch in human history.

they ban VPNs anyway (great "anonymous" imageboard)
Yeah, that always bugged me. Unfortunately, 4chan is just one among many sites that are sexist against VPNs. Xitter detects "suspicious behavior" right off the bat if you use one and makes you solve literally endless Google captchas. Same with Facebook - you can't even browse public profiles because it greets you with the login page, which I can't circumvent for the life of me.

While going through the pages here there was one picture of a guy on 8chan just replying to himself 10 times about the shark girl.
yes there's that too, all of the regular /vt/rannies kept laughing at the samefag retard.

didn't that leaked rapeape email told people which vpn's to use? he also mentions it has to be the paid verison.

Someones doing a thread on /b/ about girls nude in front of computer back in the 90's early 2000's. Is it just me? Or do they look like... healthier? Did they up the poison dosage in our food?

My apolocheese if these were already posted but I saw some screencaps of the catalogs of /v/, /co/ and /a/ from 2 days ago on 8chan and it's staggering how you have all these threads with no replies, like the bots aren't working correctly or something. They're posting the engagement farm bait threads but they aren't able to reply to keep them alive/bumped or something. And it always felt like it was a possibility the site was being propped up with engagement bait bot posts to make the website more attractive to advertisers or whoever Hiro sells user data.

I just flat out assume all 'Why is water wet?' question type topics to be bot threads. Which also constitutes the majority of threads on boards like /pol/ or /v/. And like lemmings people still fall for it.

Maybe it's because film makes redder pictures (sort of, generally). Also she's sitting next to a big reddish thing, which people are less likely to do now. That subtly changes the light. "Ruddy health" (maybe the origin of "rude health") is an old timey white-people cliché. It means you look red.
I still have that printer. I don't think it's old enough to appear in a year 2000 thread.

no tattoos, hair is a natural color, goyslop marketing/chemdoping wasn't as aggressive, pre-wifi/cellphone airwaves weren't saturated with signal, pre-culture wars, social values and morals weren't degraded/vilified/undermined, minorities were still also collectively a minority (now majority white is <50%, meaning >50% of the population are minorities. Relevant because the social incentive for assimilation to more traditional American culture is so reduced/discouraged that Americans are more likely to join another culture. Distinct American culture has to enclave, meaning the US as distinct culture is no longer the entire nation or even a majority, effectively there is no more nation. We're pre-balkanization or pre-reformation.)

Until you rangeban a variety of countries known for implementing bots and inciting ragebait or subversive tactics, get rid of all the old moderating staff, delete various boards that harbor or foster ideas antithetical to 4chan and the old internet like /lgbt/ or /r9k/ and actually hold a newer staff accountable for powertripping then its never going to get better.

Imageboards are honestly a double-edged sword and are drying up to make way for social media like twitter, instagram, reddit and tiktok. Like how many forums went the way of the dodo for social media and imageboards. Only now I think people may start returning to forums or making their own because of a tumorous hellscape other places have become as a result.
Imageboards are forums for barbarians. That's what they're good at: giving a place for discussion to people with shit-tier literacy and a lack of impulse control.
This is mostly because of the anonymous, no-history aspect, but allowing images and making posting extra easy it amplifies the effect (with minimalistic forum software, unlike BBs which are ornate).
.. 4chan can also ban your image from being posted. Then you need to resize and edit out the image or else you just get range banned. ..
I never liked how this system was used by the jannies, so I built up a habit of only posting images download off 4chan and not giving them new filenames. To mix my posting metadata in with that of anons who post images I like.

Saw the new 4chan
My nigga, 4chan has been dogshit for years, a literal decade+. If this event has been a revelation to you, then I don't know what to tell you. 4chan in it's Weekend at Bernie's years is useful for hyperspecific threads, and whenever the kikes get disrupted and there's an opening to have a proper discussion.

4chan stopped being interesting after 2016 when all the redditards came in. sure there was a bunch of autistic newfag 12 year olds coming in before that but that was happening everywhere in the early to mid 2010s. 4chans problem is that mossad owns it and uses it for data collection with every other pol thread being memeflags with 1 post from the ops id. all the crazy people that made the site interesting went to deep discord in 2019-2022 and then went to telegram. I'm not mentioning the altchans because they had like combnied 4 active users at the time.

It's a hospice home and a funeral home at the same time, decaying away for a long time. And it will continue to be that way.
