I tried going back to 4chan. It's a shithole but it is my shithole. But in its current state it's just sad. Makes sense since the only jannies that wouldn't run for the hills after the hack are the least desirable jannies. So addicted to a modicum of power they're willing to endure anything to keep it. I liked how every thread on 4chan was its own thing but I guess I'll just have to adjust to a traditional forum. I never thought I would become a rapefugee farmer but here we are. I hope you have place for one more.

I was hopeful they would at least TRY. Considering that /v/ and other boards went straight back to being borderline unusable shitholes I'll just stop trying to use them entirely. While I'll still post in the few generals about games and topics that are glacial on KF I'm dropping 4chan otherwise. I'm just sick to death of these niggers shitting all over the place when I just want to talk about video games and guns and the rare genuine discussion I have isn't worth wading through a swamp of shitposts and unironic paid shills. I spend most of my time on KF lurking but I'm forced to find new threads here to discuss stuff I like instead at this point.

After 4cuck shut down, #3 relocated to 8chan.moe almost immediately, like 2 hours afterwards. While initially slow, it began to pick up the pace as the word started to spread and more people were finding their way in.

Until you rangeban a variety of countries known for implementing bots and inciting ragebait or subversive tactics, get rid of all the old moderating staff, delete various boards that harbor or foster ideas antithetical to 4chan and the old internet like /lgbt/ or /r9k/ and actually hold a newer staff accountable for powertripping then its never going to get better.

Imageboards are honestly a double-edged sword and are drying up to make way for social media like twitter, instagram, reddit and tiktok. Like how many forums went the way of the dodo for social media and imageboards. Only now I think people may start returning to forums or making their own because of a tumorous hellscape other places have become as a result.

While going through the pages here there was one picture of a guy on 8chan just replying to himself 10 times about the shark girl. 4chan is probably the same. Plenty of times I've seen threads hit page 10 with barely any replies, despite the OP being a typical bait post. Then suddenly you get 45 second back to back posts of canned angry responses.

How do you see /r9k/ as antithetical? I can see how the current board is awful. But old /r9k/ was a very interesting pornless /b/ with original discussions. The current state is a failure in moderation, not because of the nature of the board.

How are IDs assigned? It can't just be based on IPs, right? I always wondered that about /pol/, but never bothered to learn more.

You need to clear browser data, then switch IP. 4chan can also ban your image from being posted. Then you need to resize and edit out the image or else you just get range banned.
They can also see prior to you posting and tell that you are using A VPN. this will increase the difficulty of the captcha

It really depends, big boards lost 1/5th of their traffic, so it's down to how much of the remaining traffic you think are actual posters and how much are just bots and jeets. (Jeets aren't people so they count as bots.)

I'm part of the 1/5th and I'd like to imagine we're the effort posters who kept communities worth returning to, that made it worth it to browse threads for that 1 out of 100 comments that was insightful and lead to an interesting discussion.

I noticed with a few pictures they would just give me "upload failed". If I edited it by changing a single pixel in paint it would upload fine, no ban. Although that was a while back. Wouldn't surprise me vidya butts made them so buttmad it instabans you.
The different captcha types depends on how long you post from an IP. First they give you those translucent grey letters on a grey background, but if you post a while it gets replaced with black on white. Worst was when they had those "click these pictures until no more appear" captchas that took 5 seconds for every picture to disappear and get replaced. Luckily forcing no-script in 4chanX could make the letter ones reappear.

I think their method for recognizing if it's a vpn poster goes beyond that. I used p2p vpn providers like tuxler, and 4chan gave me a hard time most times while trying to post. I don't trust any vpn that you either have to pay, runs advertisement or has been in The business for a long time

On your paragraph of captchas, it goes beyond that. The recent hack exposed how manipulated the captcha system is.
They will deliberately give you a hard time on captcha, and if you are a troubled user, they double it. The captcha actively screws with you. Even if you write it correctly, sometimes they give you an ambiguous captcha letter just so they can deny you, even though you wrote it right. It's total BS

This right here is the spirit of what 4chan has become and how the staff view it which is enough reason for me to never go back.
