Okay, so most of my family is at least not outrightly transphobic except for, I think, my sister. She wouldn't say she's transphobic, but feel free to pass your own judgement in the comments.

So firstly we were discussing the supreme court ruling in the UK, now this one, could be due to a) my bad explanation of it b) her lack of understanding. She doesn't understand how the ruling and the EHRC guidance directly contradicts gender recognition certificates, because "they're about gender, not sex, and the ruling is about sex". I tried to explain that the whole point of a GRC is that under all circumstances you are your preferred sex, but bc the certificate is a gender recognition certificate, she wouldn't get that. She also says that the ruling was "needed" as, "Previously, female and male referred to sex. This new law is defining what a woman is in law which has never been done before." because a woman is gender. She also says that a grc enabling you to change everything, will change, because "no one is saying a trans man can't be a man, it's just not their b-word sex". She also then said that it doesn't exclude intersex people because it's just not about them. I said the law is shoving everyone into "2 neat little boxes" and thats why it excludes intersex people she then compared it to why abortion law doesn't include men "it's just not about them.".

She then asked "how do you envisage that an employer would include trans people that do have a certificate (but not those without one) when having a certificate is confidential." I said: "Let the employee self identify and treat them corresponding regardless of whether they have a grc or not.". She just responded "that's not possible".

Then she goes into the whole "cis men could say they're trans to get access to women's spaces" thing. I said men could just walk into the bathroom, she went on about how they can't as if a cis man was being creepy in the changing rooms he could be removed, but apparently the moment he claims to be a trans woman, they can't be removed. I failed to articulate that if anyone was being creepy in a changing rooms, regardless of their gender/sex whatever, I'd ask them to be removed. She then went on about how some spaces need to be afab women only (not using that terminology, but the b-word) to protect women.

The topic moved on to self ID and she said if you could just go online and change it, every teenage boy would do so for "sh*ts and gigs". I mentioned how maybe that's more of a societal issue, about how we raise boys, and she went on one about how you can't change how ppl raise their kids, I say how I didn't mean we can change it, i was just talking philosophical.

I lose it a bit and drop the bomb that I've been referred to a GIC and she asks why (bear in mind I've been out as enby for 5 years, to which my sister initially responded, that's not real). Then I have to explain the whole enby is a spectrum still and doesn't mean perfectly in the middle. She then asks if my transness is linked to my autism, and if it's just an extension of my anger because "hated being perceived normal as a child and just want a group to be in with that aren't mainstream".

I express why she's the last one I told out of all my family, (she's very, very judgemental, with everything) and I fear that, she just sends a laughing crying emoji.

Name changes are extremely expensive in most places. Most of us, who already face employment discrimmination and discrimmination in the education system, can't afford it. We're forced to live with our dead names.

I make and sell art. It's helping me to overcome extreme poverty. Unfortunately, some of my customers only have PayPal as a way to pay. PayPal shares my deadname with them because it's on my drivers license.

This isn't necessary. Venmo and Cashapp don't do this.

I wish I could stop using PayPal, but it's become so standardized that a lot of people don't have anything else. I'm not going to turn those people away. But I will be moving more towards in person sales instead of online because of issues like this

Transvestism only became a term in the first place because it was used as a clinical term by psychologists and psychiatrists to describe men who got sexually aroused by wearing women's clothing. These men weren't trans; they were generally straight middle- and upper-class men whose sexual wiring had got crossed. And it didn't help that there was a sissy/forced feminization porn subculture, with its own publications, dating back to at least the late 19th century.

"Transvestite" isn't a slur because it's a clinical term for a man engaged in a specific type of sexual behavior, just as "obese" is not a slur, but rather a clinical term for excessive adiposity (no matter how fat acceptance activists try to make it one).

And yes, "transvestite" could be used to simply mean a woman who wears men's clothing, and is sometimes used that way, but women who wear men's clothes (actual men's clothes, not mannish styles made for women) almost always do so because they're more practical, durable, and protective than women's clothes usually are, and less expensive and more readily available than similar clothes made specifically for women. It's not because they're exibiting aberrant sexual pathology; there's almost never a fetish component to it (and I only qualify that with "almost" because God only knows what lurks in the T-fuelled, yaoi/BL-addled brains of Cluster B pooners).

It comes down to men whose sexuality has gone haywire vs. women who favor comfort and practicality. One needs a clinical term, and is described with one, and the other doesn't, and isn't.

Society these days tends to look down on these isms and phobes and thus can ruin your life if you hold an opinion that these identity cults have set up. Identity politics and the Liberal idea of being viewed as "the good guys" is why the noose around speech is getting tighter and tigher. These freaks will screech about "muh hate speech!" but if you transported them to Russia, suddenly free speech is the concern. Rules for thee but not for me.

It'll happen, but probably not in the way that you think. The only thing the trutranses have over AGPs is a functioning sense of shame. It takes a much more pernicious type of mental illness to feel genuine distress towards your own healthy body than it does to goon yourself down a hole.

These guys spend their entire lives convinced that they are crippled, incapable, ontologically-lesser beings; the gender dysphoria thing is just a manifestation of a bigger issue. While we're on the topic of BIID, take a look at the existing literature and see if you can draw any parallels:


Childhood onset. Homosexual orientation. Obsession with the concept of transsexualism as an inborn neurological condition. Severe distress stemming from said obsession. Even disregarding the explicit, in-the-literature association with Gender Identity Disorder, it's pretty obvious what's going on here.

(It's worth noting that limb amputation has, in multiple cases, been reported to permanently resolve the symptoms experienced by BIID patients -- take that however you like.)

They'll moan about the gooners "ruining their reputation" in private spaces, but once the pendulum has swung to a sufficient degree, most of them are going to silently detrans into the disordered gay men that they were -- except for those already past the point of no return, who will probably just keep doing what they're doing, because nobody really cared about them in the first place.
