There is legit an argument to be made to the court that by unfairly attacking Billy's reputation someone like Karl is attacking him financially.

That was the reason of the lawsuit: defamation. And defamation is when you incur in unfavorable losses due to the saying or actions or others.

I was lurking this thread and doing digging into Billy Mitchell a couple days ago when I realized that he owns a the Rickey's Restaurant & Sports Bar that's local to me, so I was deadset on going to that restaurant and trying out some wings with Rickey's hot sauce. When I entered, the environment was somewhat darker than it appears on the google reviews, but not too dim enough to be problematic. I ordered 10 wings with mild sauce alongside a bottle of Rickey's hot sauce from a wonderful waitress (thanks, Kristen!). When they got to me, they were almost as hot as the pit in Hell that Apollo Legend is burning in and wonderfully crispy. I ate some with Rickey's hot sauce, which tasted good when it managed to get through the flavor of the mild sauce that was all over the chicken wings. The water I ordered also had a little something in it that I couldn't decipher, which was most likely Karl's tears as he's working the dishwasher, but it was a nice flavor. Overall, I would definitely go back to Rickey's if I frequented the general area more.

Overall, I would definitely go back to Rickey's if I frequented the general area more.

I totally agree with this. Even though it's stuff that happened after the judge's well reasoned and factually based opinion, it shows that Billy's reputation actually had been damaged by Jobst's money-hungry jihad against him. I had previously had an extremely negative opinion of him, but the biggest reason was the Apollo Legend thing, which I stupidly believed.

I'm not a moron (well not THAT much of a moron fuck you!), and even I was fooled by this claim. There were plenty of people who thought ill of Billy that was at least intensified by this bogus claim.

The fact that people suddenly are buying his sauce and defending him after having spent years attacking him definitely shows that winning a defamation verdict does a lot toward repairing your reputation. It's like a lot of people who had bought into this bullshit were actually pissed at having been used by this albino troll.
