This description makes "meet with a psychiatrist for 45 minutes and describe your struggles" sound like a multi-week event in residence at some faraway laboratory building, where you are scanned, grilled, given dozens of tricky assessments, and examined by a team of white coats. This and other parts of your comment dress up what is very often a very simple, fairy brief discussion into sounding like a bigger deal than it usually is.

If anything the homeschool thing hurt him. It meant the church was seeing his kids more, and they were concerned based on his growing complaints of Scandinavian prudes and the interventions they tried to stage. It was also a way for family to bring forward concerns since they're involved in the church. The church was able to be a focal point for what would have likely been breadcrumbs spread across the community otherwise.

The church could have gotten him some extra leeway as they were trying to see the best in him and handle it through their practices before calling in the government, but there is no guarantee a public school alone combined with a more typical Sundays only church involvement and private extracurricular activities would have triggered the report. It was a totality of circumstances that led to the mandatory report, same as the warrant. Having a half dozen mandatory reporters with likely varying levels of involvement in the children's lives outside of class, observation skills, and care for their pupils would have only diluted things imo.

If the homeschooling was supposed to be a means of control then he half assed it as always and completely failed in his goal. Nick got removed from his teaching position at the church, received various talks about his beliefs and behaviors culminating in some sort of intervention. So this is interesting. Nick brought up the old Rev. Jerry Falwell vs Larry Flynt (Hustler) case (1987/8 in Melton's chat last night. Basically saying you cannot sue over Supertips a.i. voices because it's parody.
Of course Falwell lost his libel suit, but still won 150k in damages later.

Falwell vs Larry Flynt is strictly a decision about libel and defamation law concerning parody. It said that there is no "end-run" around the requirements for a finding of defamation of a public figure based on the damage done to that public figure. It provides a protection for clear parody under the libel laws.
However, as you say, Falwell still managed to prevail in the case over issues of intention infliction of emotional distress (the $150k) even though he lost on the issue of libel.
Its also worth noting that in that case the parody went out of its way to mark itself as parody in the publication. They put text on it to say that it was a parody. What Nick is doing with supertips has what appears to be a superchat by that person speaking in an AI generated voice as that person with no indication that it is parody.

The likely issues with the supertips system are going to be copyright, impersonation and NIL related. Falwell vs. Flynt provides no protection at all on those issues. And even if supertips were to win in court, it would lose through the platform & ToS rules in youtube which are more strict that the legal system. Strikes based on impersonation, copyright and harassment would be likely to prevail in this situation.
