well they definitely let pretty much anybody in every night of the week. my reference for this is i live in bum fuck and we used to go drink at the local vfw all the time after work for dollar beers, all you need is any relative to have been honorably discharged from the military from grandparents to cousins etc. but this was just a joke regarding nicks card being declined the last time he was at (what i believe was) a VFW
