I remember the collective gaming audience tarring and feathering Mass Effect 3 for having Day-1 DLC and a rushed ending. Bethesda and Obsidian got castigated by the gaming public and even our dear Danny-boy for releasing buggy games. People burned EA at the stake for making Battlefront 2 2017 a galactic gambling/microtransaction game. And gamers have long been lamenting the creative bankruptcy of the industry since the 8th console generation.
Bitching about game journos or boobie physics are just the latest in a long line of complaints.

Considering that some video games have religious leaders, corporate heads, and nationalistic military dudes as the bad guys, I can see Right-wing news agencies portraying games as evil, since they worship at the feet of the rich, the military, and religious figures. Just look at the Fallout games. Ironically enough, they're what Razorfist would consider to be classic WRPGs, yet their plots are filled with evil patriots, (the Enclave) religious men, (Children of the Cathedral) or corporate dudes.
