What is it with so many people's fursonas simply just being "animal in a hoodie"? It happened with SuperYoshi, too.

there's extreme deficit of good Christian media

The Bible is the best Christian media, just tell people to read it; Trying to fit any transcendent or metaphysical concept into a movie format for the masses will majorly simplify the meaning or leave out crucial components requiring deep research.

This equally applies to other belief systems and philosophy.

Agree, but you know what I mean though. It should seep more into our every day life and the world as a whole. Otherwise, we see what else replaces it.

If the culture was to be centered around Christianity, in this case in America - nobody would even question it, Christianity, I mean. People prioritised commerce after a certain point, so most media became appealing to the most neutral aspect of the mass of people who live there. It would be nice if a spiritual aspect was included, one way or another; I'm fantasizing of course, since the current reality is not like this, but I understand your point.

The Bible is not going to replace fiction anytime soon, though. Better to have sane, grounded people writing it

Hey, while we're talking about Christian-themed media, what do the people in this thread think about Judas and Jesus? I can't link it, but it's $2 to buy on YouTube (I can't even find it on Dailymotion, god help me.)

It's obviously the most blasphemous animated short film ever, R-rated and all, but I read it as being a metaphor for self-proclaimed martyrs and average joes (Jesus and Judas respectively) and how they're both asshole types.

I've been thinking about it lately - thanks for reminding me of it. How there's sex/nudity and overall "ow the edge" for being a 2009 animation. I'm amazed people rememnber this, I guess this would fit quite well with Trashbin Homotel.

I just didn't know that the plot was "BOTH SUCK!!!!111". Into the trash it goes.

I actually enjoyed it, I found it free on a website forever ago. I thought the premise was alright, nothing amazing about the twos relationship. It gave me more of a devil and God character one being evil and the other being good. Wasn't a big fan of Judas just being a weord pervert who still gets with his "crush". Jesus's complex was interesting giving his "sacrifice" a less noble look. Enjoyed the animation at points, liked that it was dark.

It's not like Hazbin Hotel. It's full of nudity and it's not something you'd want your pastor to see, but it's not...I'm not sure how to put it. Here, I rewatched it just now so I could provide a better summary:
The short starts on the night Jesus and Judas are born. Jesus is a lamb born to a loving lamb family, it's overly cutesy and "holy" and good, there's a Christmas tree pulled out of nowhere, and the baby Jesus strikes a holy pose to hammer home how holy he is. Meanwhile down the road, Judas is a goat born to one of dozens of hot goat bitches in the Elvis-devil's harem mansion, and there's rock n' roll playing and Judas is born feet-first.
It skips to them being kids, where the differences between them are further accentuated. Judas grumpily walks to school, dragging a shitty old bookbag, while Jesus happily skips with his shiny new backpack. Judas has bad grades, Jesus is a teacher's pet, and Judas notices Mary Magdalene. Judas throws a paper ball at Jesus, inspiring the rest of the sheep to do the same, burying Jesus in paper balls, who strikes the "woe is me I am such a martyr meant to suffer" pose, then they mock-crucify him at the head of the classroom. Mary tries to save Jesus, much to Judas's anger.
Side-note here, everybody in this short is a tiny mindless sheep except the named people and the Roman guards. The guards are big dogs, Judas is a black goat, Mary is a pink humanoid goat, and Jesus is a white sheep with long blonde hair.
Flash forward to them being teenagers and Mary is deciding who to hang out with after school; goody-goody Jesus who's preaching peace and love, or cool bad boy Judas who's smoking a cigarette against a wall. Mary joins Judas...until he drops polaroids he took of her in the bathroom. She walks away offended and joins Jesus, leading all the sheep to follow Jesus.
The last timeskip is to when they're adults. Judas is a piece of shit just hanging around eating pizza, meanwhile Jesus is doing the last supper with his sheep followers. Mary shows up late, which Jesus publicly shames her for, and Judas joins in just to ogle Mary. Mary stretches and everyone stares at her boobs, so Jesus yells at her and forces her to wear the tablecloth, covering her entirely and making her cry. Judas throws a slice of pizza at Jesus for being such an asshole, and Jesus (as usual) takes the suffering because woe is me, I'm such a good person for suffering. All the sheep are on Jesus' side, Judas runs off, and Mary notices Judas in return as she drops the tablecloth.
That night, Jesus puts on his thorny crown and fluffs his hair, then proceeds to whip himself (as do all of his sheep followers in the rooms next door.) Judas, instead, decides to go spy on Mary's room, where she's dolling herself up and painting her hooves/horns before sneaking out the window. Judas follows her and finds that Mary runs a swinger's club and fucks everybody who enters, but the entry fee is 30 euros. So naturally, Judas takes a wanted poster for Jesus and goes to a guard, tells him where Jesus is, gets his 30 euros (which have a satanic symbol on the back) and goes into the club to fuck Mary. Jesus shows up while they're fucking and pushes a cross in Judas and Mary's faces, shaming them for having sex. Suddenly the Roman guards burst in and everyone points out Jesus, who puts on his thorny crown and tears his shirt and takes his martyr pose and is dragged away (meanwhile Judas continues to hump Mary.)
The Crucifixion takes place at a concert venue. Jesus hams up his agony and the sheep are appropriately sad, and when the whole thing ends everybody lines out the exit and leaves behind trash and foam fingers. Outside the sheep find Judas just walking around and form a lynch mob, capturing Judas and hanging him in a tree. He thrashes there during the credits, and once the credits end Judas is dead. Mary shows up and mourns his death, then in her grief she turns into a demon riding a multiple-headed dragon. The dragon breathes fire and kills all the sheep that killed Judas, and she flies off into the night.
It's not obvious what the message of the short is. My takeaway, personally, is that both religious and non-religious types are bastards; Judas will betray someone for change so he can pay for sex with a girl he's obsessed with, meanwhile Jesus is self-righteous and isn't focused on doing or being good, rather being seen as being good because he suffers so much. Meanwhile people are sheep, easily manipulated into doing whatever seems popular rather than making up their own minds. You can even tie in something about the treatment of women, how even though he was raised by a house full of sexy women Judas still objectifies and is creepy to Mary, and even though Jesus had the opposite life he wants women to be ashamed of themselves for just...existing as female, and how others react to their bodies. There's a lot going on, and you could look at it from a number of different perspectives. The short isn't just "DURR BAD PEOPLE AND GOOD PEOPEL THE SAME," that's just something I took away from it.
There is a TON of symbolism and biblical references in the short. I didn't even notice until this rewatch that Mary has a plush snake on her bed, which is absolutely a reference to the devil in the garden corrupting Eve by taking the form of a snake, and this being the first time in the short we see Mary actively being corrupt and doing something immoral.

TLDR it's not Hazbin Hotel, it IS vulgar, but it's worth watching at least once if you can find it (or pay $2 on YouTube.)

I laugh hard af every time that cliché wedding song plays when Christ offers his hand to the Roman guard nailing him to the cross.

Haven’t seen it in a while, but I remember liking it for the bizarre piece of media it is.

Thank you. It looks like something I'd find on VigilantCitizen's website. I'd be curious to see his analysis, but maybe there's some symbolism and probably occultism. Obvious Christian bashing, but I believe the occult is more hidden.

Old edgy animation that would be right at home on early Newgrounds. Not much to say about it really.

When you become so irrelevant as a country that you're not even recognized for making animated shows:

It's probably for the best when your "greatest" contributions besides Ed, Edd, n' Eddy are Johnny Test, Total Drama and fart fetishes everywhere.
