What is the issue with an Imperial Officer trying to rape someone? That "gritty Andor" wussed out?
To be honest, I haven't the faintest idea. So much ink spilled and there isn't anything more definitive than "it's icky." The most reasonable opinion so far is Ryan Kynnel saying he doesn't care and nothing happened. It's not even rape, it's sexual advances followed by murder. Do note, everyone is fine with showing murder.

MauLer is a libtard, even if he acquiesce that Fallout is ass or TLOU 2 is ass he would never admit that a racist misogynist incel like Synthetic Man was right...
Commies call him a nazi which is funny to me as guy is basically leftwing 2009. I love when people say that Russia funded anti Star wars videos to destroy the us.
I find it funny how much left wingers love Disney

MauLer would have been a great fedora sloptent creator back in the day.

Youtube recommended me a Metal's Forge video the other day about TLoU season 2, and it got me thinking about EFAP; I stopped watching after the Synthetic Man drama, and I'd occasionally lurk in this thread, but aside from watching Mauler's annual video (Fallout, Ahsoka) I don't think I've interacted with the efapsphere at all since. It's crazy to think that was three years ago, and it's even crazier to think that, looking at them now, it almost feels that nothing has happened since then; I know things have happened, Rags is doing content again (still has his dog and horse dildos in frame next to his rantsona) and Little Platoon has joined the panel, but Mauler still hasn't put out TFA 5 (despite making other videos relatively quickly, proving he could do so if he gave a shit), Fringy still does absolutely fucking nothing with his channel (and life, I assume), and EFAP still covers capeshit they don't give a fuck about. At this point I have to ask, why does EFAP even exist?

If you look at their catalog the last few episodes have comprised of counting money, and talking about goyslop that I doubt anyone thought ever had the chance of being good; EFAP is on year seven now and it makes sense that they aren't "hungry" anymore, but this level of stagnation is something else. I don't like Drinker, but glancing over the Open Bar episodes there's a bunch of different guests and there might actually be some arguments and disagreements, reasons to watch; Friday Night Tights do the same thing every week with the same people (plus one guest), but it feels like they're having fun, they give a shit. As far as I can tell, EFAP hasn't had a new guest since the Boogie stuff almost a full year ago, and even after adding a new host to the panel they went right back to bitching about Disney Marvel and Star Wars. What's the point?

This thread's kind of dead, but what's there to talk about? Rags made a new video, and he's still an insufferable dog-humping faggot. Platoon's on the panel now, but they're still covering the same trash. The sad thing is I feel this is the time for things to happen, there's the Andor rape drama and TLoU season 2 is airing, but instead of talking about it on his own show or having EFAP debates with other creators, Mauler chooses to let Drinker cover these topics, instead wasting a month "completely breaking down" a Disney Marvel show that realistically nobody cared about past the initial "is it good or bad" reaction. So, again, I have to ask; in 2025, what is the point of EFAP? Why does it even exist?

This seems to just be the natural progression of shitty streamers. It goes something like this:

  1. Become famous by falling ass backwards into covering some popular trend.
  2. Rake in paypig money from an audience that wants to see more of your content.
  3. Grow your stream by collaborating with other streamers adjacent to your sphere of interest.
  4. Rake in even more paypig money from people who just want to be pretend best-friends with someone famous.
  5. Become lazy and start churning out no-effort content.
  6. The show stagnates and now only has an audience of parasocial losers. <---(MauLer is here)
  7. Fall into a series of controversies that people outside your sphere then uses to generate content for themselves.
  8. People in your sphere begin turning on you so they aren't dragged down with you.
  9. As your viewer count drops, the paypigs leave because they want to be pretend best-friends with a famous person and not a washed up has-been.
  10. Either become apologetic and rapidly lose your audience or become an "internet bad guy" and gradually lose your audience.
  11. Become the Uber Eats wagie you were always destined to be if the internet didn't exist.

They really are bad at deciding topics. I get that it's their podcast and they choose, but they actively go against their audience's wishes. Not only have they spent a month of a show no one cares about, it's also a show they hate. Meanwhile for TLoU season 2, they say they dislike it yet won't cover it even if the audience wants it. I wish they had gone more creative in their critiques. They endlessly point out what's wrong but never how to fix it. I liked Mauler's TFA video where he wrote an alternative intro for Poe and Hux. It's interesting and it sharpens the mind. Mauler's short film is the only thing I'm really curious about.

On semi-related note, the youtuber localscriptman is pretty interesting, he talks much more about writing and stopped trying to critique. He made an interesting video on trying to write a film script in 48 hours. That's definitely the route, I wish EFAP had gone for. Weirdly enough, one of local's video was featured on EFAP and they ridiculed his ideas on writing.

It's really crazy that it's been almost 7 years since efap started. Time flies.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, efap lost what made them unique in the first place. efap didn't start out as just them talking about the current hot movie, they were more focused on finding bad video essays and having fun breaking them down and that was great.
What Dishonored Wolf brought with him to the show was a Drunken Peasants-esque influence where he was more interested in finding random weird people to make fun of (go look up his old show he did before starting efap. He focused on people like Gerald Genesis.)
With that influence gone, efap gradually slid further toward just talking about whatever the new the new thing is. They can't even be interesting enough to respond to video essays anymore.
Why the fuck would anyone care to hear them talk about the Minecraft movie for 8 hours? There's no way that that movie made enough interesting decisions to be worth focusing on it for 8 hours. Just talking about a movie isn't interesting if the movie itself doesn't have anything interesting to say.

Seeing what derivative slop their show has become makes me really happy I bailed 4 and a half years ago.

In summary efap 100 was the last good episode.

Weirdly enough, one of local's video was featured on EFAP and they ridiculed his ideas on writing.
What episode was this?

I think this is a symptom of moving from edited video content to a livestream format without an explicit or general structure. Mauler was known for drawn out videos before EFAP, and those videos were pretty punchy and edited to string together a long thread of points, valid or not, to form his critique. In EFAP there's so much dead air and there is no real mechanism to stop a tangent from going out of control. That, and even though it's a lot less work to livestream it's still a timesink. A ton of these run up around 6-8 hours, a full workday. 2 hour podcast still gives 6 hours to do work on other shit, but after 9 hours your lazy work is interfering with life, how the hell are you going to justify getting off your ass to edit a video when you've put in an hour of "overtime."

I've heard a lot of things about video essayists but not this. Was this an actual trend?

He's looped through the successive points a few times over now, EFAP's length is at least some level of insulation for them that I would be surprised if they ever moved on from that.
Mauler chooses to let Drinker cover these topics
Given Drinker owes a not insubstantial part of his current clout to getting signal boosted by Mauler back in the late 10s, and Mauler is clearly putting more effort into everything aside from EFAP (which can't draw real guests anymore), I wouldn't be surprised if there was some agreement between them where Mauler steers EFAP away from topics Drinker wants to cover in turn for getting preference in his streams/projects.

I think Efap is at it's best when it goes over what worked before and comparing it to current trashfires. For example a fun stream would be the panel reacting to the first last of us game, look at what worked and what didn't, then go through the trashfire that was the second game, then ending it with going through season 1 and 2 of the tv show.
Having a let's watch of the Peter Jackson lotr trilogy then later comparing it to Rings of Power is great.

Efap is at its worst when it's just goyslop superhero show #692. Capeshit only appeals to 30 to 50 year old neckbeards with arrested development

The length of their streams is definitely protection. Like with the Jenny Nicholson drama where a bunch of content creators went after them for attacking a whammens, then when they got pressed on what exactly Mauler & Co. said that was so bad, they all admitted that they didn't know because never watched it on account of it being 11 hours long. All it would take is one a-log with a big enough audience and enough patience to listen to their streams in full. Synthetic Man was close to being that guy, but he lost interest part-way through their drama.

I'm curious, have any of them mentioned Voxis Productions(that guy with the puppet avatar doing a nasally posh british voice) at all in the past year or so?
He seemed to have dropped off the face of the earth for the ~5th time now with the last update being a community post from three months ago.

I doubt it. From what I remember, they don't tend to bring up what's going on with people who've guested on their show unprompted.
It's been years since he's been on the show so I doubt anyone's thinking about him enough to ask.

Could be hanging out with Jay for all any of us know [or care].
