This conversation always makes me think of the oil diffusor incident, where Andy seriously tried to hardball Officer Bentley over the fact that the oil diffusor was his private property and nobody could make him turn it off without a court order. That night ended in Andy getting arrested and being legitimately surprised that it happened; he legitimately didn't understand that his parents had rights to the air of their own home until the cuffs were going on. You gotta remember before the accident Andy was successfully competing with Joe. Joe is really good with computers, so Andy was trying to get attention by showing HE was really good with computers and started his own business. To a point, but I'm not sure what an old dead lady's uterus has to do with anything.

And as some people pointed out to me, Tom tried to have him removed from the home but the courts essentially forced him back. I agree that Tom could have stopped doing anything for him, I would have, but that would have never gone over well with Andy. I feel his parents were almost in a hostage sort of situation. Not to mention, they felt obligated to take care of him, because a) he kept getting sent back to them and b) as gross and stinky as he is, he's still their son.

It was janet who did most of the enabling, and the one who dropped the charges for the oil diffuser.
