The Australian totalitarian megathread - She won't be right mate.

I've had my postal vote for a couple of weeks now I think and I kept putting off getting someone to sign it for me, so when I got home from work today I found out you can submit a declaration online and I had to put a reason why I couldn't get anyone to sign it so I wrote "social anxiety, social recluse" and I hope that works. I've filled it out now and it's ready to post, but I doubt it'll be in time to have any real effect. I haven't voted in 20 years.
Are you overseas? You can get it witnessed as well as drop it off at an embassy or consulate general.

Something I rarely see mentioned is how niggerbrained most people must be for the whole How-To-Vote card thing to cause sperg outs every election. One Nation are now putting Liberals 2nd on their How-To Vote cards after 30 years of not doing it cause Howard put Hanson in jail. Now I just saw in some Marginal QLD seat, the Greens aren't giving out How-To-Vote cards which would have shown Labor as 2nd.

I'd love to see some data on how much that matters. First of all, how many voters even take a card? Secondly, how many people NPC themselves to write exactly what the card says? The way they all fight to give it to you as you walk in. Disgusting.

I did a voting count for the NSW Election at the Entertainment Centre once. The amount of retarded shit people write, or just simply fuck up, making their votes invalid, is staggering. I didn't keep track of Voting cards and how many papers I saw that matched them, because I'm not very autistic, but I'm sure the major parties have that data, and it must mean something.

It's mainly for the party-ticket voters who don't want anything other than Liberal or Labor but still need to fill the rest of the ballot to get counted.

Fair enough, so why the need for 5 people per party at every voting booth, accosting every person who attempts to vote with taking their own personal card? If it is mainly for the party-voters, couldn't there be a single person, or even sometime a kind of box with a giant sign saying "LIBERAL VOTERS TAKE THIS". I don't mean to seem facetious, but there has to be more to it. Like how many Greens voters are going to show up at that seat, not see any cards for them to take, and completely tank their vote? How much do people vote in lock-step with their party? How many people think about it at all until they're forced to dodge the $50 fine?

It probably isn't common knowledge, but I can testify to the absurd amount of meticulous analysing that goes into voting papers. Even if you don't follow the rules, even if you fuck up 50% of the votes, your shit is counted, at least there is an attempt to justify it. Only dick drawings and screeds are insta-thrown out. If you touched the pen to a box and left an identifiable mark, know that people will stand around and have a conversation over whether it counts as a vote.

I voted early and I'm genuinely could not tell you who the vast majority of the parties/independents were. Trying to figure out which 6 above the line to number was fucking annoying because of it.

Ended up voting for One Nation cause fuck Libs/Labour and Pauline Hanson is funny.

I reckon the AEC should publish the funniest screeds and the most realistic dick drawings on their website post election and then get us to vote the favourite.

Then you have the dumbest part of the population now trying to win a popular contest and invalidating their votes.

That specific behavior is more basic marketing tactic - same reason Coca Cola advertises everywhere when it's probably the one brand besides McDonald's everyone knows.

If you are one of the undecideds, or can even be a little bit swayed away from your current idea of a vote, then having a pamphlet from XYZ group espousing their positions means their brain worm is the most recent and easily accessible in your mind.

If you're undecided and Party A was lucky enough to force a pamphlet in your hand telling you they want increase the health budget, then they get to win the argument without a reply from Party B who want to increase the deficit and eat babies, the bastards.

You have to admit, the media coming out so hard for labour is unusual if you look at the last couple of elections its always been heavily biased to liberals even the rag media isn't going as hard. I'd love to see unbiased media to have a balance of opinions but that'll never happen.
Would a Dutton Government actually be favourable to corporate interests? He seems like more of a social conservative than an economic liberal. His meagre cuts to immigration aren’t good for business. His nuclear policy is a slap in the face to retard boomers who campaigned against nuclear back in the day. Moreover, Trump actually following through has galvanised the progressives who populate the media.

I always grab how to vote cards. It’s interesting to see how they recommend. For example, Family First has One Nation super low. The Greens have Labor as 2.

Yeah it's been weird seeing them hit the Liberals with the same bullshit tactics they always pull on Labor, but tbh seems like the Tree Tories in the media really fucking hate Dutton, that and the general dislike of him by the non-rusted on really seems to have sunk his chances, that first swing against the LNP has been more brutal than I think anyone really expected.

Oh well, sucks to suck I guess.

Gaaaaaaaaaay
But not unexpected

I also early voted but went up to the local voting centre to buy a snag for breakfast. It was absolutely packed, loads of party reps (and Teals yuck), my mum voted today and it took her an hour to get through the queue. Its an extremely marginal electorate so not entirely surprised there was a lot of people voting, but it seems unusual since its never been this busy. Did everyone want to get it over and done with and went to the voting centre first thing in the morning?
I think we might be in the same electorate. Monique Ryan? I hope she votes to keep leting jeets in so we can be replaced at an even faster rate wholesome 100

I don't want to power level too much but not Kooyong, Goldstein.
Funnily enough it looks like the Liberals might win it back from the Teal, the only Teal seat that they might lose.
Zoe Daniel is absolutely despised or loved depending on what side of Nepean Highway you live on (Bayside darlings love her), which with a redistribution is about a 50/50 population split.
I hope she loses because she is an absolute fuckhead.

Looks like the half-baked potato lost his seat and we got another Albo term. I hope you auskiwi's at least had a burnt sausage and a can of coke for your (mandatory) participation. If not get a fine and cope and seeth. Don't pay it and lose your drivers license, if you have one.

I must be lame and gay, because even when the cunt I didn't vote for got in, I get all patriotic and optimistic, but the problem is I already did that 4 years ago with this cunt.

I guess I'll go walk down to the bottlo and buy some more double-taxed bundy rum premix tinnies, and hope I don't get knifed for them by a first nations ambassador, though I should be happy that justice was served, for my ancestors sins.

While I bleed out and die, I will reflect on what this country has become, and not turn a single thought to what it could be, because then I'd be a racist bigot. Just like my bigoted racist ancestors who built it. They never turned a thought to anything. It was a utopia before the British came here. It's all recorded extensively in the libraries that the first nations maintained.

Fuck me.
