It's crazy to me how many far-right types in the US lack any form of self-awareness, and especially with some posters on here who echo the same type of sentiment. This site has almost gone under because it does not adhere to the Zegesit of most of the internet, yet users will still support things that have the protentional to sink the whole forum.
Reminds me how a lot of people within thunderdome shit on UK for being an unfree state, because people get fined or even arrested for online posts. But the thing they don't seem to realize was that this online safety act was passed under the tories, a
conservative party, not the libs. And it was passed in part to protect children from grooming, self-harm, abuse, etc.
On paper, it seems like the type of thing people at Thunderdome would love, because many are hawkish about this kind of stuff, and would love for people like lolicons to face tangible consequences. And that's the thing... UK laws are stricter and less lenient towards CSAM than a lot of the US. But as a consequence of the government being given much more unrestricted power to censor the internet than the US, it has led to websites like Kiwi Farm inaccessible without a VPN for British users.
Similar story in Russia. Many people were celebrating that all LGBT organizations and movements were outlawed, that criticizing the military had been outlawed and that numerous other restrictions were passed. However, nobody on Thunderdome seems to express any worry or care how Russian online users get fined or arrested for online posts. Nobody calls Russia an unfree, totalitarian country, as they do with the UK, even though Russia is objectively worse, with it gaining such unchallenged power and influence over online censorship, that websites like discord, facebook, twitter, instagram and even the internet archive were blocked. Even my Russian pro-z online acquaintances were heavily annoyed by discord getting banned, calling the people doing it retards (even if it was in a "good tsar, bad boyars" kind of way, as you frequently see with TES people), but like... they can't exactly do anything about it anymore, it's too late. The state already has too much power over the internet, they can't protest it. And guess what? You can't access Kiwi Farms there without a VPN either, because the local online hosting provider has blocked the site, not even waiting for it to get officially banned.
Each and every time, regardless of what political force is responsible, the state gaining more power to censor and control the internet invariably fucks over sites like Kiwi Farms. I anticipate that the US government will try passing various reforms and regulations over the next few years that would grant it more authority to regulate and censor the internet, which will get heavily celebrated by Thunderdomers, cause it will own the libs, until they realize that this website got blocked in the crossfire. And then we'll see the same story repeating "Why the fuck did you attack us? We are not the libs".
