If they were genuine about wanting to save Creator Clash they would have either bowed out after the cataclysmic failure of CC2 or committed to doubling down and making CC3 the best yet; promoting it tirelessly and moving heaven and earth to get as many big names on the card as they could. No way Ian had a change of heart that fast and quit boxing that quick. They distanced themselves from CC so fast. It could be that they know CC3 will be a trainwreck but something is telling me they're shallower.
They did neither of these things, because Creator Clash has always been nothing but a vehicle for Anisa and her husband to court the attention of their perceived betters in the breadtube community. The only reason they've announced stepping back now is so they can say it's not their fault when the event is a total washout.
They put themselves in an impossible position with that stupid sword. They can't say it was just an edgy joke because it completely undermines the 'THIS IS SUPER SERIAL GUYS' pompous attitude of the Content Cop, and they can't claim it was just a coincidence they chose that sword because even non-weebs who know nothing about Bleach can instantly look at the hilt and see it's a fucking swastika. Can't they just admit that that framing does look very suspicious, and give out a simple, "oh shit, sorry, didn't mean to do that. total accident, but yeah that looks bad. sorry"
You're right the smart move would have been to just apologise upfront and take their lumps, but the smartest move would have been to not do it in the first place. They obviously expected the Content Cop to go over much better than it did, returning the upper hand to Anisa's Husband, instead it blew up so bad in their faces that he's probably going to end up getting out the whiteboard and doing another 5D post-irony meta swastika deployment presentation to explain why he's actually in the right.
