Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

Nintendo can get away with selling their games for more because people actually want to play them. Microsoft on the other hand puts out the most mediocre slop that no one gives a shit about and is also multiplatform so you don’t even need to actually own a 600 dollar Xbox that was released 5 years ago to play it.

Gaming in general is becoming more expensive.

At this point that we are headed at, it seems more viable to just buy indiegames on steam and to emulate for the next few years.
I could just stop buying now and have plenty to keep me busy well into old age with games I already own. I know I am not alone in that regard.

Really dumb to try and make games expensive.

I just want them to charge higher prices for shits and giggles on these main title nintendo games, just out pure shear curiosity of how people would react and behave in actual market conditions, like not what any one claims or says, but what they actually do, like just throw out stupid values like 200 dollars lmao
Because we should know that people these days who do what they say and say what they do are not a common thing on the internet lol

I have no interest in open world iterative mario karting, just like I wasn't in the mood to play BOTW DLC and climb more ubisoft towers. I have no interest in nu-Donkey Kong and his garish 80s design, and I have no interest in Animal Crossing since realizing 15 years ago that grinding for a house in a game you'll never own is just as pointless as grinding for a house in the real world that you'll never own. Prime 4 (which I would at best get on Switch 1) is still somehow MIA for a release date despite its development hell and likely Launch Title standing. All the retro games on offer (and the ones to be on offer in the future) I already have for free and with better options, controls, graphics, and performance. Fire Emblem is still languishing in the pits of gacha hell, iterative Smash will inevitably have terrible online as always, and I'm not paying for that terrible online when I already have one fucking comcast bill for terrible internet.

If Nintendo has any games I actually want to play, I don't see them... Nor do I see how anyone else could want them in this economy for 80+ bucks. This whole launch is Madness, even without the Jewish shennanigans I can't find one game I'd actually like to play on offer besides Prime 4... just 1 month left to go plebs.

Blah, blah, blah you don't like Nintendo games and would just pirate them all anyway.

Gee, is it any wonder why no company will cater to you.

BotW robbed us of a traditional Zelda for a long time. Assuming we get a real one in 2 years that means we've been without a proper 3D Zelda for 16 years.
It robbed us of a tired old turd, oh woe is us. After decades of being one of the most catered to groups in gaming they were given a slightly different flavor of ice cream and only most of them liked it. Since 2003 every single one of those games was worse than the one that came before it, be glad it finally evolved.

Seriously, Silksong/Mother 3 level whining from "mid-school" Zelda fans. Please, give us our dated control scheme back, we hate having a different colored shirt, jumping anywhere makes my finger hurt, I miss simpleton-level block puzzles. Boohoohoo.

Slightly different? BotW was just OoT with the empty Hyrule Field expanded and temples taken out. And calling the OoT formula tired after just 5 games is ridiculous, and calling it a turd is just laughable, especially WW which is the best game in the series.

There are still block puzzles in BotW, they're just all in the same boring environment that all Shrines share.

This but unironically. I could tell BotW wasn't going to be shit as soon I noticed they changed the controls around and added a jump button. And why the fuck is the run button a face button and not a shoulder button? Am I not supposed to look around while running?

TOTK was literally a wet fart when it came to discussion about the series. Does anyone remember it existing? Still feels like glorified DLC.
It feels like it because it is. Aonuma literally said they took a bunch of ideas they had for BotW DLC that was getting out of scope and released them as a new game instead.

I liked TOTK a lot and still do, but Nintendo's insistence on "here's a story, but oh not too much!!" really hurt it in the long run. The dungeons are better, the enemy variety and side quests are better and feel less generic, but it doesn't really compliment BOTW as much as it should. Taken on its own it probably has one of the better stories in a Zelda game (or at least one of the best climaxes), but as a sequel? It's a let down.

I swear, this thread can’t go two weeks without whining about BotW or feeling the need to tell everyone that they emulate.
90s kids will never stop seething about Zelda having an actually financially successful game, because it’s not just another clone of OoT.

Nintendo seems to have improved the eshop slightly, now games are ranked on revenue instead of total sales, so 2 dollar shovelware isn’t as competitive.

Yes, because Zelda was some niche game series only enjoyed by the hardcore audience with underperforming sales. It only had 18 games plus a handful of spin-offs over the course of 30 years, each generally selling only around 5 million copies, maybe 10 million at best. But now, Nintendo is finally making money off the series. They must have really had faith in it to stick by it so long.

Can't wait till Mario is successful, Odyssey is going to surpass NSMB as the best-selling non-pack-in Mario game, finally breaking even, no thanks to those pesky 90's kids, fr fr no cap.

could someone please tell me what replaced freeshop or whatever

I vaguely remember something being available on Windows that let you just grab shit off Nintendo's servers, I forget if that was for Switch or if it was just 3DS

Yes, it was Metroid with good merchandising.

If they were lucky, it was usually around 3 for the first release.
maybe 10 million at best.
They’d max at 7 million before re-releases.
(Which is hardly bad, but it was rare.)

This chart is outdated, BotW is at 32 million now.
