UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Do we think the local election votes would reflect future national election votes? The local election turnout this year was remarkably lower than previous years; in many counties and councils that won with reform, it was below 29%. Though I'm not a politics nerd so I'm chatting shite.
It could be indicative of Labour and Conservative voters losing their enthusiasm, which mighty carry into the GE. Remember, Labour won the last election because of low turnout (60%), and now that their own voters have experienced a similar loss of love for their party too, the only people who are really enthused now are 3rd parties. We might see Green, Lib Dems, and Reform make huge gains in 2029.

A general election precedent would probably be Lib Dems going into 2015 going from 57 seats to 8 seats after disillusioning so many of their voters during the coalition government (they traded increasing student loans to 9k a year from 5k for gay marriage).

I want to see the voting demographics of the reform voters. There's so much talk of how reform destroyed the Tory party, but they're already dead. Killed by the WEF when they coup'd Truss. The corpse set on fire by Sunak and then the ashes pissed on by putting a niggette in charge.

Why the cheering of the dead, when they were the opposition party, but no words on the fate of Labour? Labour who are propped up by the Pro-Palestine protestors, pakis and trannies.

Sorry to doompost but nothing ever happens and I don't trust anything.

I'm not sure if this was already posted here or has been discussed as it just popped up on my reddit (sorry) feed.

The only context I have is that this is an immigrant housed in a hotel, for about 1.5 years that was trying to meet with a 14 year old girl. I can't find any articles or news on it though.

Wasn't until some years ago I found out the actual phrase was "if you want a nigger for a neighbour vote Labour" , and not only that, but it worked and was one of the few seats Labour didn't win the that election :lit:
If I remember rightly my phrasing was from an original campaign from a Tory candidate in the 60s.

It's difficult to get voting demos unless you wanted to cross-reference every area, get their demographics and make a judgement from there... which I made a half-hearted attempt of.

A lot of these elections took place in white majority areas (overwhelmingly white: 90% to 95%+) so Reform's showing might be a positive indicator of voting demo intentions when it comes to ethnicity. However, there's a somewhat noticeable North/South divide when it comes to these elections. Just one comparison:
Gloucester (South, majority white): under 5% non-white, saw Lib Dem control increase to 49% from 30% whilst Reform got 20%
Durham(North, majority white): under 5% non-white, saw Labour control decrease from over 50% to 4% whilst Reform got 64% and Lib Dems remained steady at 14%

This might point to a North/South divide when it comes to white voting intentions?

Two noticeable elections in areas with sizable minority pops (Leicestershire: 25%+ non-white/Lancashire: 15%+ non-white)
Leicestershire: Conservative support (80+) collapsed giving Reform just a few points shy of a majority control, with Lib Dem support before and after going from 19% to 20%
Lancashire: Made the most independent gains out of any council in the election but Reform still won the seat, Tories losing 40 seats and Labour losing 27. (Muslims leaving Labour to vote for aligned-independents? Or maybe they're just more politically active as a bloc in the North of England versus the South?)

My guess is that Labour will lose some vote share to the Lib Dems and Greens (but mostly Lib Dems) as the Conservatives are a corpse like you said, but Labour took a massive thrashing too. I think genuine conservatives and working class voters (dislike immigration but like Labour until recently) probably went Reform whilst genuine liberals and middle class voters (the sort who voted conservative for financial reasons) went Lib Dems.

Not at all, just a difficult one for me to joke about tho as it raises a lot of anger.

The Didsbury mosque and the muzzie "community" around it too. I had to continue passing through the area on the way to work for a few years after and I knew that not only was it likely a lot of the locals there supported what happened but likely knew about it beforehand. I was hoping that if the riots had turned full race war last year that the area would be one of the first inside the city to be burnt down, but unfortunately we didn't get that far.

I appreciate the reply and that you put the effort into finding, as best you could, some kind of voting demographics and making me feel more at ease about the pakis flying over my house.

The Poles belong under a jackboot, either a Russian or a German one, and it is in the interest of all of Europe's security and stability to keep them there.

Stockport, Rochdale, Manchester, summer's coming... I'm going with the targeted event being one of the Oasis gigs at Heaton Park in July. Security for mass outdoor events is always fairly shitty, the Pakis do a lot of 'event security' work so someone's cousin has already seen the security plans and the setup for emergency gates etc, easiest way to get stuff into the gig is to work security innit. Eighty thousand people expected each night at Heaton Park. Secure the exits from the inside once Oasis are on stage. Set the bombs off whilst the gig's on, and it's got dark, people are crowding to the front, the panic and the stampede will kill hundreds alone even without the effect of the bombs. Gun the survivors down as they flee. It's a park, there's excellent line of sight everywhere, there will be practically no cover.

Major events are the places terrorists target now because they are soft targets. See the Ariana Grande outrage for the blueprint. Kids and teenagers and mothers, they had no chance against wild panic and fucking nail bombs. The Oasis gigs will be full of drunks and teenage kids. There should be no fucking brown faces working security at those. No brown owned firms running anything. We have to understand we are vulnerable when we congregate now and we need to be smart about screening for the risks. Private event security is THE risk for terrorism prevention.

Unfortunately, that is a good call - I suspect that something along those lines will take place this summer, maybe in Cardiff too as the city is hosting many concerts at the Castle, Principality Stadium and Blackweir (plus Cooper's Field usually hosts the annual Pride Festival).

Dua Lipa, Oasis and Kendrick Lamarr are among those playing at the Principality Stadium and, whilst getting a bomb inside the stadium is a tough ask, it wouldn't be impossible and if certain people can be bribed or are working for the 'same cause'. The Principality Stadium and WRU are very much pro-woke/DEI as well.

I would also not rule out something happening at the FA Cup Final on May 17th - Youth Demand have made threats online recently and even though you wouldn't expect Middle Class White kiddies to set off bombs... who knows. Not completely out of the question for angry Lefties to get into bed with Shitskins if they can scare us all...

We just need Scotland to wake up. They're really busy trying to be the Poundland version of Ireland so no doubt they'll go full accelerate sound. If Scotland starts Reform then the establishment will know the game is truly up.

Weirdly Reform could be on course for to take the Welsh parliament, but even the Welsh don't care about Wales.
Reform really needs to push the idea of Scotland no longer having any sweeteners, if Scotland no longer had free university it'd push the SNP over the threshold for independence and see the rest of the UK benefit as they eat shit.

The loud bang enthusiast who demonstrated his hobby in Manchester was on a list, people knew he was a terrorist, he was reported to some authorities who did nothing and most people knew he was tick-tocking in a sponteneous disassembly kind of way.

You say it's hard to get a bomb into a place, but this known, literal timebomb just waltzed in and everyone was too afraid of racism to shoot him dead on the spot. Then didn't look back in anger, or forward with fucking brains when 26 little kids met their maker.

I'm continuously amazed at what world people live in.

To steel-man the government for a moment: Almost all security is theatre that relies on the concept of deterrence rather than actually making a place secure. The state knows that so many people are threats looking for opportunity. There are too many to properly secure without just destroying these Skaven-warren immigrant ghettos, that they have to rely on putting up a front. It doesn't always work.

As a scientist I've worked in some very, very secure places, EDIT: There used to be some stuff here that I actually don't think I should share.

It is why the talk of 'feds' and infiltration and constant surveillance is kind of funny. It's not constant, there are very real, and very hard limits on what the government is practically able to do; it has to direct the eye of sauron onto a limited number of targets and it has a limited budget. The bulk of the work is done by making you think that they are always watching. Because actually always watching is too tedious, expensive and impractical (for now lol). If the government has a reason to come down on you though, they will absolutely rip your life apart and have the full backing of the state and there's really nothing you can do about it. Our government does not police through actually looking for criminals, they police by looking for examples to make and then making them. Everything else is lower priority.

Good post and thanks for the information. Never PL, as tempting as it is. I'm sure most of us could tell of some shit that would help each other understand more, but it just ain't worth it.

As to the quoted bit, this is what they did with southport, but they fucked it up. If they had taken away the muzzie armed with a machette screaming at the mourners, the rest wouldn't have happened. But it did, and they needed to go down hard on whitey to make an example.

Would it shock anyone that the Iranian arrests today (yesterday? YTZMV) are to put the public at ease that they the government are pro-active, mainly as an excuse for when a football stadium or whatever, is bombed?

I remember that Richard D. Hall had a video about this event - he was called out by the BBC and had to pay compensation as a result.

I watched it and, whilst I'm on the fence as to whether or not Hall's claims are credible, I found it strange but not surprising that (as with Alex Jones) the authorities came down as heavy-handed as they did.

If what somebody says is laughable, then it'll be easy enough to debunk it and pick holes in the argument. However, if what somebody says cannot easily be debunked, then there may just be a kernel of truth in the matter, and authorities saying 'no, no, you really cannot and should not believe this because the official line is that this is not true' only adds to the suspicion.

There are many conspiracies and beliefs which are, at best, fanciful and, at worst, completely stupid and senile. There are also those conspiracies which have facts and which can be proven as true given time.

mainly as an excuse for when a football stadium or whatever, is bombed?
When the Ariana Grande Manchester attack happened two key thoughts came to my head:

1) This is sickening, how could anyone do something like this?
2) ANY large public gathering (concert, sporting event etc.) is now a valid target as extremists have now tasted blood in the water.

Genuinely lucky that football fans are self aware enough to sense trouble and outsiders for miles outside stadiums but I'm actually fearful for the day when someone slips through the cracks.

This also happened today. Same area. They had to specify he was white. I'm annoyed by the wording because the headline makes it out to be an accident or the result of two cars colliding, when it was in fact the same car being used to ram into multiple people.
Woman hit by 'double-crash car' dies
A woman has died after she was among four people hit by a car involved in two crashes, police have said.
She was airlifted to hospital after the collision in Whitworth Road, Rochdale, on Saturday afternoon. That crash followed another where three people, including a child, were struck by the same vehicle in Woodgate Avenue, Greater Manchester Police said.
A 49-year-old man, who was arrested at the time on suspicion of assault and attempted murder, has now also been detained on suspicion of murder.
Assistant Chief Constable John Webster said the crashes were "in no way related" to a counter-terror policing raid where officers arrested a 40-year-old Iranian man in the borough on Saturday.
He said police were "aware of comments on social media about the driver's identity and ethnicity", adding: "The suspect is a white male currently in custody and no further details can be released at this time."

'Community solidarity'

Police said neither crash was being "treated as terrorism related".
The three people who were hit in Woodgate Avenue suffered minor injuries and have since been discharged from hospital.
ACC Webster said: "This incident caused significant disruption yesterday and I thank the public for their cooperation and understanding while our officers conducted their enquiries.
"We are committed to this investigation and have significant resources dedicated to it.
"To all those people affected by yesterday's tragic events, community solidarity and unity is vital in times like these and especially for the families and friends of those impacted by this incident."

Whilst searching for info on this, I discovered that Labour's picked counters for the council election in Rochdale stole a hundred votes from an independent candidate and attempted to steal 50 from the Tories: Labour's Leanne Greenwood, who was 142 behind would have had been saved if her council affiliated counting officials weren’t caught in the act stealing Mr Howarths votes.

They've apparently just arrested him at Temple Meads - he seemingly ran off into Leigh woods on Thursday night and has only shown up now.

Tl;dr elderly fag "couple" hire black porn star for "extreme sex", wind up decapitated.

Yostin Andres Mosquera faces trial for the murders of Albert Alfonso, 62, and Paul Longworth, 71, on July 8 last year in the flat the two shared in Scotts Road, Shepherd's Bush, west London.

The defendant, 35, wearing a white shirt and blue jeans, admitted the manslaughter of Mr Alfonso during a hearing at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, but denies and is being tried on both charges of murder.

Prosecutor Deanna Heer KC told jurors at the Old Bailey on Wednesday that Mosquera "could hardly deny" killing Mr Alfonso, telling them the attack took place while the defendant and Mr Alfonso were having sex - with both the sex and the killing recorded on film.

But the court heard Mosquera blames Mr Alfonso for the death of Mr Longworth.

Mr Alfonso, who worked as a swimming instructor, and retired handyman Mr Longworth were described by neighbours as a "friendly couple who seemed happy together and who were genuinely fond of one another".

They entered into a civil partnership in February 2023

The court heard Mr Alfonso liked "extreme sex" which Mr Longworth, who knew about it and accepted it, had "nothing to do with".

Mr Alfonso would engage in acts with other men, including Mosquera, jurors were told - with the defendant described by the prosecution as a "pornographic performer".

It was said Mosquera visited the UK more than once and spent time with Mr Alfonso and Mr Longworth, engaging in sex acts with the former in exchange for payment, and that the couple also visited the defendant in his home country of Colombia.

"They seemed to enjoy one another's company," Ms Heer said of the trio.

The prosecutor told the jury that Mosquera "had other matters on his mind" when he visited Mr Alfonso and Mr Longworth in June last year..

Analysis of the defendant's computer allegedly revealed that between June and July 8 he searched for the value of the couple's west London home, browsed Facebook marketplace for a chest freezer, copied spreadsheets containing Mr Alfonso's log in details for his online bank accounts onto his laptop and searched for "serial killers of London" and "Jack the Ripper film".

On July 8, Mosquera allegedly killed Mr Longworth and Mr Alfonso in their flat and then "set about trying to steal from them".

"Paul Longworth had been attacked with a hammer to the back of his head, suffering repeated blows, which shattered his skull," Ms Heer said.

"Albert Alfonso had been repeatedly stabbed, suffering multiple wounds to his torso, his body, and his face and to his neck. None of that is in dispute."

At around 11.30pm on July 10, a cyclist making his way across the Clifton Suspension Bridge spotted Mosquera standing next to a large red suitcase and stopped to see if he was OK, thinking he was a tourist, the court heard.

The witness also spied a large silver trunk a few metres away from the defendant before Mosquera told him the luggage contained car parts, jurors were told.

"That was a lie," prosecutor Deanna Heer KC said.

"In fact, the suitcases contained the decapitated and dismembered bodies of Paul Longworth and Albert Alfonso, which the defendant had transported to Bristol from their home in London where they had been killed two days before."

Police found their other remains at their flat in a chest freezer, the court heard.

"The prosecution case is that the defendant murdered both men, that he intended to kill them, that his actions were planned and premeditated and that, having killed them, he immediately set about trying to steal from them," Ms Heer said.

The trial continues.

Though I am not at all surprised cheating occurred and it was Labour doing it. I sadly don't see any consequences coming from this but it's telling on which side is often the one caught cheating.
