Last I knew, Alcatraz was in pretty fucked shape. It would probably more cost effective to just build a new one in the California desert. This smacks of Trump flipping through channels and coming across the movie "Escape from Alactraz" and getting fixated on it.

Which wouldn't matter because Federal prosecutions are next to nothing and State/local prosecutions are also, ha ha, next to nothing. The only time local and state DAs try to actually fill our prisons is when they need the slave labor to undercut the firefighter union.

The reason LA sucks isn't even unions. Its because commiefornia has insane taxes and regulations. Workers in the business liked the unions because there was so much money involved they could actually get a good wage and healthcare out of it. But because California has to be the illegal, universal healthcare, socialist state, you end up with an industry town that was built on opportunity and hustle shrink into a corner while Budapest and Toronto offer tax breaks so the money doesn't go to government instead of production. California is run by scammers. They do it to everyone. Weed heads get taxed to the point of wanting it illegal again to get it cheaper. And don't get me started on the gun policy where you pay an excise tax making a 400 dollar gun a 750 dollar purchase.
