Germany did the same thing to Paris in the Franco-Prussian War. It’s ugly, but it gets the job done. Piling corpses in the streets sends a strong message to one’s opponent.

Unfortunately, India can take a lot of bloodletting in a war without being fazed. This skirmish can likely take hundreds of thousands (perhaps millions) of lives.

However, these people are so violent and tribal that the world will suffer no loss. I’m just interested to see how it ends.
