Japan General Thread - Japan-related news, happenings and thoughts

I don't really trust Reddit on anything Japan (or possibly any expat community there, if I really think about it) so I'll ask here: what's the job market like there now + years to come? I'm thinking of just taking the techpill (even if I hate coding for anyone but myself) to boost my chances, but at the same time I also wouldn't mind being an english teacher if it meant I could get by and never have to be anxious on public transportation ever again.

Fuck any rice imports from China.

Also, it's been interesting watching Ice Poseidon and his band of niggers finally catch some ass whoopings out in Japan. I fucking hate IRL streamers so much.

If only Japanese police were actually interested in violently beating the shit out of all of these animals.

The fact that these fuckwits are making American tourists in general look bad seem to not bother them at all. I hope they catch a bullet.

The "DEI" situation is accelerating over there. Seems Reiwa Japan may be getting unrecognizable to Heisei Japan, at exponential pace.
I would think the combination of USAID troonbux no longer flowing to the leftists over there, and Rahm no longer being ambassador, would help stop the DEI-flood.

Vietnamese and Chinese gangs might replace the Yakuza one day and indians will overtake the tech sector.
All the more reason to implement a strict 日本は日本人専用です policy when it comes to other asians moving to the country. And do it NOW while there's still plenty of public support for getting rid of Triad trash, Viet-cunts, and reeking jeets. Show everyone in Japan how allowing the hordes has worked out for America, and even the notoriously passive Japanese should rise up against it.

I'll take my rainbow stickers now.

Why is the girl at 0:20 framing the issue of wearing a skirt or pants as an "LGBTQ" issue? Does she know no women who wear pants and even prefer to do so in their free time?
I guess it is because in Japan, they have a stronger sense of sex "gender" roles than people in the West? And if you look at live footage from city streets, you'll see that women usually wear skirts or dresses more. So maybe women wearing pants is somehow seen as being more "progressive" and "inclusive" over there, than it is over in the West?

Maybe it's more common for women to wear dresses or skirts than in a lot of Western countries, but it's by no means rare to see women wearing pants. I'm not sure when it stopped being seen as controversial for Japanese women to wear them but at least by the 1970s, it had become more or less commonplace for young men and women to wear jeans/pants in their free time.

It seems weird to tout something that has already been a thing for over 50 years as progressive and revolutionary, but it wouldn't be the first time trans/queer activists do this – many of them also believe short hair on women is "queer", even though lots of women had short hair in the 00s and before that.

Can anyone in this thread make sense on why this is happening?
Im an outsider so take it with a grain of salt but in general from the media i've seen those teens usually fall into 2 camps. One are runaways from abusive families (Japanese have a lot of incest abuse or just physical/emotional abuse) and the other are girls who come from the countryside to tokyo for a better life.

Sadly for them Japan isn't doing so good and of course Japan being Japan is for sure going to exploit young women's bodies for profit.

No jobs for them, Very hard to get an apartment, and having no skills besides just laying there for a business man to fuck them all of that compounds together to have that homeless teen issue.

Other factors are that the Japanese police don't care mostly and another huge one is that these teen girls often go into debt paying for hosts at a host club falling for guys whom are basically paid to "Love them". All of this combined with easy to get pills for depression leaves them pretty fucked.

There is currently a rice crisis in Japan. The price of rice is rising. It has gotten so bad that the government is releasing its rice reserves.

Yeah Japan is doing badly economically right now and is actually a huge reason why there's an assload of tourists in Japan. Tons of tiktokers and instragammers posted how bad the Yen is doing so if you wanted to go to a 1st world asian country Japan is the place to do it.

Start going to Japan if you want some PC parts. Expensive but its not like their Yen will do anything for them.

Would that also explain how much worse China and South Korea are doing financially, as well as them having more political troubles than Japan is right now, because more people are visiting Nipponland over Chink and Gooklands?

Speaking of politics, has there ever been a Japanese PM that came close to being removed from office (does Japan have an impeachment option for their PMs?), like how ALL of Worst Korea's Presidents have been involved with corruption in one way or another, and several of them were either assassinated or removed from office?

Utter lunacy.
But it's utter nonsense to pretend there's any American-fueled push to force an agenda when you look at the actual status of the queer community in Japan—there's a sizeable queer population in Japan, and there's no reason for Dragon Quest to ignore them. Not to mention, at no point did Horii ever mention anything regarding Americans or sex education or Puritanism.
Talk about "gaslighting" there: SJW delusions such as "non-binary" were not prominent in mainstream Japanese media before Western "woke" (and maybe also USAID thing?) really started infiltrating Japan by the time Reiwa began, even if there was a sizeable LGBTQ++ "community" in Japan before then. And not putting "transgender" delusions like "body style" in vidya isn't a bad thing. As late as just before "GamerGate" and the endless circus of Current Year, there wasn't even perceived need to shoehorn LGBTQ in the West.

More legal insanity out of Japan: if you criticize publicly and damage reputation (defame), you can get in trouble. Even if it's true.

Under Article 230-1 of the Criminal Code of Japan:

“(1) A person who defames another by alleging facts in public shall, regardless of whether such facts are true or false, be punished by imprisonment with or without work for not more than three (3) years or a fine of not more than 500,000 yen.”
- Defamation Laws In Japan (Kelly Warner Law, ad blocker maybe needed)

(If a yen is about a cent, then 500,000 yen is about $5000 USD.)
