People who are interested in the safety issues with Discord might enjoy this podcast. To save you some time if you don't feel like listening though, the tl;dl is that Kik was facing financial difficulties and was sold to a company who specializes in buying up apps that are struggling financially. They basically stripped all the copper out of the house, so to speak. They cut moderation budgets and jammed everything full of ads to make Kik financially viable again. The result, as one might predict, was that the app targeted towards children that suddenly had no moderation became absolutely crawling with pedophiles. Thanks for posting this!
That absolute loser that was running cover for 764 on X, cutting ties with other online vlogger types for even discussing it and being so sure it was fake.
I wonder if he’ll DFE now.
Also holy fuck does discord need to be put under court supervision. Going public allows the scumbags and (((rats))) at the top to profit, but also documentation might come out, totally showing their blatant disregard for child, safety, and supporting predators like this and predators like fucking trannies.
This is my main concern with Discord going public. Even with as bad as Discord is now, the devs don't have shareholders breathing down their necks demanding greater profits every quarter. I don't want to give Discord too much credit, but they actually do have humans working on their moderation team, which is good. That may not be the case in the near future.
