Last month I attended the funeral of a guy who OD'd on heroin, who turned to drugs because the only way he could try to cope was to dope himnself into oblivion. Nick meanwhile is a spoiled manbaby bitch who started doing coke because he thinks it's fun and who, despite everything, still insists he dindu nuffin wrong, and that all the people who claimed to be worried about his kids are all just boring, jealous scandinavian incel prudes. @Dr Naomi Hunter's point was that Ralph would generally admit he's a piece of shit (and actually wallows in it), while Nick is still trying to gaslight people into the idea he's actually a wonderful family man.

I agree with her insofar as that. Nobody likes it when people try to gaslight. It's an extra dimension to Nick that you don't really get with Ralph. It also makes Nick more dangerous, because the warning signs aren't as visible to anybody who approaches him and knows nothing about him.

Ultimately, this is probably a dumb discussion. Obviously, they both suck. This started when I mused over what would happen if Ralph and Nick got into a massive fight. Could that be a fight where Nick would actually come across as the better man for once? I still don't really have an answer for that. It would probably be contextual.
