VATICAN CITY, May 8 (Reuters) - USA Cardinal Robert Prevost was elected the new pope and leader of the Roman Catholic Church on Thursday and has taken the name Pope Leo XIV a senior cardinal announced to crowds in St. Peter's Square.

Whether left or right, as the first American, he will be prob be more aware of how the press is attempting to play him.
Francis seemed totally clueless about the ways of the mass media, babbled to the wrong/unsympathetic audiences, etc.

Maybe this one will have a clue when to shut up? Its as important as knowing when to talk.

Lots of people happy that a Cubs fan is finally pope. ⚾

Most of his tweets are in Spanish. He definitely identifies more with his Peruvian side than his American side.

He's Agustinian. They're ok.

He particularly, is progressive on political issues bc he worked here with Andean and Amazonian people. He has Peruvian ID. There are no confirmed rumors about him covering up abuses. Again, non confirmed, so don't take my word on that, I cannot nor will confirm it.

he doesn't like gays though.

(The city he was in charge of, Chiclayo, is starting to party hard)
