Not only is it a comically massive text, but every page consists of the original writings from 200 AD, then commentary on that writing from 1000 AD that’s three times as long, then commentary of that commentary from 1200, all laid out in an incredibly confusing way. The Daf Yomi, the official method for teaching the Talmud to Jewish laymen, has them cover one page per day because every page is super information dense and difficult to understand if you don’t know what you’re doing.
If someone says they know about the Talmud, 99 times out of 100 they just memorized a few random lines from racist memes made by Mexicans.
