The knives are coming out of course for Casey Means, but not too badly, as her message is positive. Mostly they harp on the fact that she never officially practiced medicine and doesn't currently have a license, as if either of these things is a requirement for Surgeon General. She got a full MD from Stanford, and she's proud of the fact that she dropped out during her residency because she disagreed with being told to push pills and surgery instead of trying to heal underlying causes.
They attack her for being an "Influencer" and selling books and supplements and a health app, as if her making a living doing health stuff is somehow evil and dirty.
This guy is particularly noxious.

There's a reason Casey Means was RFK Jr.'s surgeon general pick. Just not a good one.
He attacks her credentials (what are his, oh he "is a writer and editor for MSNBC Daily, where he helps frame the news of the day for readers. He was previously at BuzzFeed News and holds a degree in international relations from Michigan State University"--so an opinion spinner from Buzzfeed with a degree in nothing to do with health).
He lumps her in with RFK and antivaxxers, as if that’s all she talks about and with the dog whistle that if you hate RFK you'll hate her, and says
According to
The Associated Press, “in interviews and articles, Means and her brother describe a dizzying web of influences to blame for the nation’s health problems,” ultimately connecting “changes in diet and lifestyle to a raft of conditions including infertility, Alzheimer’s, depression and erectile dysfunction.”
And? There is no possibility diet and lifestyle could fix and improve these issues? Or might be causing them?
He faintly praises her for this:
The New York Times noted that Means has supported “serving more nutritious meals in public schools” and “forbidding pharmaceutical companies from advertising directly to patients on television,” both of which are policies I can get behind.
But then goes on to bizzarely say:
But the Times adds that she also backs “investigating the use of chemicals in American food” and “putting warning labels on ultra-processed foods,” which brings us right back into the same myopic worldview from her book.
...nigga wut? Are you seriously saying chemicals in food and ultraprocessed foods are
objectively good?! Do you hate Republicans so much you have to stan for literally evil megacorps poisoning our food supply for profit?
YOU DON'T HATE THEM ENOUGH!
Also RFK Jr's former running mate Nicle Shanahan is butthurt for some reason that Means is nominated because Bobby promised her that there was no way "Means and her brother would be working under HHS or in an appointment." She thinks they are "robots" and "Manchuran candidates" (p racist, surprised an Azn like Nicole would go there) and that someone is "controlling" Bobby's decisions.
I never liked her in the first place. I somewhat supported RFK as a candidate (though I never really stepped off the Trump train) until he picked her. She's a tech billionaire('s ex-wife) so it was patently obvious she had no qualifications to be VP and bought the position to help fund him. It greatly disillusioned me on his candidacy, though I always liked what he said about health and am glad he joined Trump. But into the trash any opinions from her go.
