What gets me is Char just stolen only a Gundam prototype, no blueprints, or documentation of any of the parts of said gundam. Nor did Char and the other guy destroyed anything more than just the guncannons and guntanks present. Even if the Federation was stupid enough to send everything to that colony and not have backups stored elsewhere.
And the -02 blueprints kept in secret by Amuro's father, which afaik, Zeon had no information on. This was hinted at in '79 and elaborated on in Gundam Origin.
It has his stamp of approval but the interviews made it sound they did the controversial details as last min as possible so he would have no choice but to approve.People don't like hearing this. Evangelion is one of the only animes that normies have ever watched, so of course they go full shit-throwing ape and assume Anno is a Great Man who personally created the entire show by shooting laser beams from his mind.
Anno strikes me as someone who just plays with his toys but likes doing so in unique fun ways, as opposed to getting all pretentious and pretending to be great like say kojima. As much as Anno is kind of a hack, he's always a hack that 1)Sticks up for his co-workers and 2) readily admits what he's ripping off of. He's never struck me as a "this is all my idea" guy and both he and Yamashita have gone out of their way to make people know that GQuuuuuuX is Tsurumaki's Gundam and not Anno's.
That being said, I do follow a lot of the CGI guys and Anno did apparently contribute a lot to CGI models in a really early drafting capacity. The guy blamed some of the greebles on Anno lol.
Its not that they don't have the blue prints for the suit, or hell possibly even Tem Ray. (He doesn't get sucked out into space.) They are missing two crucial things to make their suits more effective. Test data to make the ground suits optimized for space ( they built the Gundams on earth and sent them into the colony for testing) and they don't have Gundams learning computer data. That's 90 percent of the reason they were able to field the GMs so quickly. Without that data development slow down significantly. I can see some dumbass panicking and slapping together what they have to prioritize speed thinking that will be enough. What gets me is Char just stolen only a Gundam prototype, no blueprints, or documentation of any of the parts of said gundam. G-Witch was pretty okay up until the last six or so episodes ran through like twelve episodes worth of content in a really unsatisfying and anticlimactic way. I liked it more than I expected to.I have not kept up with Gundam lately. The last I watched was IBO, and while I wasn't a fan of the story I did buy the Vidar and Lupus Rex kits.
Witch from mercury and GQuuuuuuX just didn't look very appealing to me, so I didn't bother. The influx of annoying people that came because of Witch from Mercury turned me off the most, but I do wonder if I missed out on anything.
What do you guys think? Should I give them a chance?
Your theory is obviously what it's going to be, but please please please no Unicorn/Ideon nonsense. One very interesting char theory is the reason Bull can't sense him is because
You missed nothing except Requiem for Vengeance (best UC sidestory alongside IGLOO) and SEED Freedom (it's a ripoff of Cyber Formula Zero, it's very, very stupid, and it has lots of the problems of the previous entries, but it makes Destiny quite interesting and Rising Freedom was cool enough for me to buy the HG). G-Witch is moe yuribait with no good robots that makes 00 S2 look like astute sci-fi by comparison, and G-Cucks is a Barneyfag show (seriously, it has the tone and colour palette of MLP or some other girly anime) that has exactly two good robots and threw all its depth into the backstory rather than the actual plot.I have not kept up with Gundam lately. The last I watched was IBO, and while I wasn't a fan of the story I did buy the Vidar and Lupus Rex kits.

If you really like UC Gundam and zeon in particular go for GQuuuuX. I really like the background details and the overall plot.I have not kept up with Gundam lately. The last I watched was IBO, and while I wasn't a fan of the story I did buy the Vidar and Lupus Rex kits.

I would just prepare for yourself the terrible design choices for the suits. If you really like UC Gundam and zeon in particular go for GQuuuuX. I really like the background details and the overall plot.
What are you even watching that's better than Gundam? Not like Gundam is good, but holy shit there's no anime anywhere that's good anymore. Watch it because it's your obligation as a fan of a franchise to suffer through it.I have not kept up with Gundam lately. It looks terrible till you see it actually move and kick ass.I would just prepare for yourself the terrible design choices for the suits.

I do in fact love UC. And yeah the suits made me apprehensive (I find the characters hideous too but I can ignore the way the people look), especially since it's easy to make me spend money on a mech that looks cool. If I give it a shot I'll let yall know what I think.I would just prepare for yourself the terrible design choices for the suits.
There's a bunch of points where this show animates the mechs in 2D and it pisses me off. Stick to one fucking method, don't go back and forth. That was one of my biggest problems with Unicorn and G-Witch. I'm not biased towards one method or the other - I enjoyed Majestic Prince's mech fights, and I could still tolerate the cheap fights from Season 1 of IBO - but I'm not going to get invested in fights when the mechs just transform from 2D to CG at random and I completely lose track of what's supposed to be happening. Also doesn't help that the 2D moments tend to be stillframes. It looks terrible till you see it actually move and kick ass.
I disagree. I think adds to the style and often times, Its seamless enough I can't tell the differenceThere's a bunch of points where this show animates the mechs in 2D and it pisses me off. Gundam and mecha were always the only anime that aren't entirely an insult to your intelligence. Mecha rips off sci-fi literature and real world conflicts, so it has a bit more substance than other anime, and these are all anime originals, so they have good story outlines from the start (unlike manga and their adaptations). Do you seriously expect me to believe Dragon Ball or Urusei Yatsura or whatever is better than Zeta? Original SEED isn't good aside from Freedom, Justice, Bucue, Zuoot, and the spaceships, but it's high literature compared to One Piece or Higurashi or Code Geass or whatever other 2000s anime are popular. What are you even watching that's better than Gundam? Not like Gundam is good, but holy shit there's no anime anywhere that's good anymore. Watch it because it's your obligation as a fan of a franchise to suffer through it.
The majority of this show's audience (newfags) wouldn't care about that. I hate to be elitist and gatekeep, but holy cow, this is proof positive you need to gatekeep. It's like weebs love anything that is bad and hate anything that is good.Really I only have one major problem with the show. They should have opened it up like the movie and not cut the 15 mins That showed what happened to char. That was the coolest opening to a Gundam show I've ever seen and the whole package made the transition to the UC 85 girls a lot more interesting.
iirc even in the storyboards for ep 1 and 2 of Eva they don't pull that "shinji passes out, wakes up, later flashbacks the battle", that seems to have been a very last minute thingthe interviews made it sound they did the controversial details as last min as possible so he would have no choice but to approve.
tbh I'd have to give a close look between the mecha fights of UY and Zeta before I decided thatDo you seriously expect me to believe Dragon Ball or Urusei Yatsura or whatever is better than Zeta?
