Mass Effect Andromeda: Shitstorm Edition - RIP Biowear

Why does this game look so much worse than the previous Mass Effects? Wouldn't the popularity of the series bring in a bit enough budget to make it better rather than worse?

Inexperienced team and an engine not designed for third person shooting and vehicle driving. Frostbite 3 was designed for Battlefield, and by all accounts it's a bitch to modify.
 
I hate it when you say that sort of thing and whup a whole way of unfucking ME:A falls into my lap and again, y'wonder why nobody took that route.

Make 'em civvies, actually go full blown Trek peaceful explorers. Then all that awkward dialogue and such fits.

Another idea that would have been interesting would have been if there were unintended side effects from being in cryo sleep for 600 years and they had to deal with it.

You know what? Screw it. MemeSara is just way more fun than actual Sara. I will one day write a sci fi story featuring a major supporting character who is a gormless, unaware but overall likable autistic girl who for all her trouble just cannot understand what's going on around her.
 
This whole thing is just unappealing. Like Bioware's always been king of awkward sex scenes but this takes it to a new level.

No, seriously, this sex scene is just the worst. Like at least the Scott/Cora one, it actually looked like Cora enjoys it. Here, Sarah still has that pitiable, blank expression she always has. She looks like she has no idea what's happening and Peebee is just taking advantage of her.

We seriously just watched a blue alien rape an autistic girl.

Also, just a stupid thought, it should have been Shaun Ryder rather than Scott. As in the lead singer of The Happy Mondays.

Please someone do a playthrough as him! :P

They literally cannot help themselves when it comes to shoving politics into this game. Surely injecting real world politics will help sell units. Surely.

Oh and I was wrong about PeeBee's sex scene; both Ryders can fully bed her instead of fooling around in that zero G chamber. But you wanna know something funny? You know how in Fem Ryder's sex scene Peebee looks like she's riding Fem Ryder's girl dick? Yeah, that's because they recycled the fucking animations from male Ryder's scene.


Now I'm sure people will (rightly) point out that ME1's sex scenes were all the same animation wise. Thing is, for ME1 they didn't actually animate any actual sex like they did in Andromeda.

So apparently, a report on Bioware Montreal as an employer just went up:

A former Bioware employee who was a VFX Artist during his five year tenure at the company has revealed the awful working conditions that they had to put up with while working for Bioware. The employee who left an extremely negative review about working at Bioware on Glassdoor revealed the following negatives about working for the developers.
  • Bioware Edmonton and Montreal symbiosis is broken. Lots of conflicts and bro culture.
  • Lost over 13 leads (game design, art, audio, prog, senior core leads, etc) in 5 years at Bioware Montreal on Mass Effect. Edmonton lost only 3. It is clear that Edmonton has the bigger part of the stick when it comes to purge Leads and Producers who are not aligned with their leadership style.
  • Putting people on performance improvement program (PIP Program) is the new tactics to get rid of people. Once again more than 10 people in Montreal got slammed with this bureaucratic uppercut to let go people that are not bending to Edmonton leadership styles in the last revision cycle. This approach is used by the Montreal Leadership to purge the mess from the lack of vision cause by upper management in the last 4 years (throwing people under the bus to protect bad core management).
  • Renaming crunch to Finaling mode. Which means company pays for your lunch but you have only 30 minutes to eat and then getting back on the keyboard. Was lasting for over 2 months and was a real catastrophy.
  • Retaliation and harassment is sadly a reality. If you talk and ask questions you will be tag as a trouble maker and end up in a bad position.
  • HR won’t help you out. They will deny the current harassment from Montreal management by ignoring and not documenting the facts. In other words if you leave don’t talk. Just let it go.
  • Many benefits got cut due to too much time extension to get the game done.
Now this obviously came from a more Social Justice-affiliated employee, but there's something amazing about it nonetheless: It indicates that because Bioware Montreal kept hiring whackjobs based more on ideology than skill, they kept having people fuck up and the project leads kept having to crack down in response, especially when employees fell into the OMG BEIN' HARASSED routine.
