100% this. Phil made up his mind and knew he was going to shit on it before he even clicked the purchase button. He only bought it to (in his mind at least) prove he was always correct. It ties into his apology fetish, I bet he fully believed he'd play it for two hours, then everyone in chat would flood him with donations saying they were wrong and he was right, and someone would clip him and he'd go viral as being the no-shill gaming messiah that everyone loves because he has brilliant insight and courage.
Meanwhile, Phil actually had a game he was excited about playing for once, and...he just sort of threw it onto the end of the stream after the mood was already soured. Which was probably the most surprising part to me. Not Phil making a bad decision, that'd be Phil's free space on a bingo square, but when was the last time he really talked about wanting to play a game? Especially without immediately equating it to wanting to play solely because he thinks it'll bring in views/money/save the channel?
