Google just pushed out an update this month for the Pixel 6, 6 Pro, and 6a, as well as the Pixel 8, 8 Pro, and 8a. This updates the bootloader, and prevents the installation of older versions of Android. One thing that makes this interesting in particular - this is after the Pixel 4a had the update that ruined the battery life a few months ago.

It makes me wonder if something like this is coming to the newer devices in the future. I do still think that update on the 4a before was incompetence rather than malice, but this time, I do not think the same.

Either way, this seriously drives down my interest in these devices. They are currently still the best in allowing you to do what you want with your phone, but they seem to be changing that over time.
