Reality shows often push exaggerated narratives because they are more interesting/enertaining to the viewer. My 600lb Life is well know for exactly this. While the people on the show certainly overeat to get to that point, the producers film shots where the person makes 8 eggs, a dozen pancakes slathered in butter and syrup, and drinks an entire 2 liter soda for breakfast and this is portrayed as a daily occurrence. To even be on the show, you have to agree to shower naked and salivate over pizza so the audience can point and laugh at how huge you are.I have no doubt there were "suggestions" that they really ham it up, but to be fair, some of what he was eating was way outside the norm. Describing his "typical" morning breakfast as "a donut or two, then maybe two bagels".
And I seem to remember a dessert scene of similar 3-4x overkill. Forget starving himself, cutting back to a single delicious donut would remove a ton of unnecessary calories & sugar.
What's more of a mystery to me is why the ((producers)) would want to highlight this (his physical state reflecting his unhealthy mental state following his "essential care", and his "supportive, affirming" family mocking him).
It doesn't surprise me that when Jaron was struggling with his weight due to the daily drug cocktail he ingests and lifelong hormonal fuckery, the film crew pushed Jaron to eat fast food in his car and make him sit at the breakfast table with a ridiculous amount of food in front of him. Even if Jaron didn't want to, the pressure of his family and remaining on TV made it impossible to say no (much like the rest of Jaron's choices).
It makes it so hypocritical when Slobber goes on his "my body is perfect just the way it is" rants because deep down he does not think that. Being fat makes him ashamed which is why he keeps talking about it. He can justify himself pigging out and being lazy, but Jaron was expected to be strict & disciplined. Slobber, if every body is perfect as they are, why did your brother need to be poked, proded, and chopped up to be his true self?
