Also zoomer, the reason why that happened is because we had unrestricted access to the internet with no supervision because our gen x parents and millennial teachers were too retarded to realize how damaging it was to us. Being an older Zoomer, right after the general cutoff for millennials, let me also weigh in on this.

This is absolutely correct. My Boomer/GenX parents didn't monitor a single god damn thing I saw on the internet, and boy does it show. I'm talking 2 girls 1 cup, porn, liveleak (RIP), and more just entering middle school.

A system where the websites are completely inaccessible until you verify your age via secondary server, regardless of where you live is REQUIRED if any plan to restrict minors access to porn is going to work. Why? VPNs. I was already pirating games at 10 years old, and of course that led to viruses. Really nasty ones too. Many factory resets were made, and a few nasty ones had to be purged by frantic googling from 13 year old me figuring out how to edit windows registry files without fucking up the computer because one particular virus still left shit behind even after deletion. If I can do that at around 10-13 years, then even the illiterate Gen Alpha kids we have today can just download something simple like free ProtonVPN to load up that sweet sweet tiddy. Sure, an 8-year-old probably wouldn't be able to do it, but a horny 15 year old teen that's been using computers their entire life can easily just circumvent all of this shit.

Not even mentioning the one gorillion porn sites that just don't comply with the law in these states. I live in a state that's blocks it, and I bet you my next years income that I could find porn in under 10 seconds if I tried.

Spot the person who didn't read my technical explanation. The verifying server doesn't have access to the data of the site the user is going to. It just receives a request token, authorises it, and sends a response token. At most it would know where the request came from but there's no functional requirement it needs to log this stuff. Audits would be mandatory. This is entirely possible to do.

The alternative is just not to use internet porn. But I know that won’t be popular with certain groups. I really do my best to avoid “common good” arguments because I know where those things lead.
But we’ve gotten to the point where the damage being done by the status quo is so rampant that I’m seriously considering a “common good” argument here.
If I’m being completely honest with you, what I would like to see is parents doing their fucking jobs. But as anyone will tell you, especially those born after 2000 is that modern parents have absolutely dropped the ball on this.
So I find myself in a difficult position here. But ultimately when it comes down to it I’d choose the general wellbeing over free access to pornography.

Why couldn't this be made available to adult content providers? No, I won't provide you my ID Mr. Pornsite, I will however provide it to GovIDCheck.GOV and it'll return an API call saying yes or no, and rather than my ID you can just store that. Mandate a reasonable re-check (my local candy store cards me every time despite knowing me, cause they have to) of say, once every 14 or 30 days, and we're good. Problem solved.
