But you can view genitalia on Kiwifarms. That's obscene material. Would you appreciate kids seeing it? Why are you ok with kids seeing tranny stink ditches on KF?
Randomly popped into my head while skimming past the porn spergery:

We got knocked offline by a tranny maliciously posting illegal shit on a long dormant account and reporting it within minutes to the entity that could deplatform us.

I'm convinced at this point they're either being willfully ignorant for the lulz, or they are functionally retarded. They don't seem to be able to grasp that the current introduced legislation seeks to broaden and specifically define "obscene", which will almost certainly include any depiction of genitalia, regardless if it's for "discussion" or for "jerking off".
nigga i didn't even know there was introduced legislation for this shit i thought you guys were just talking about it

Why are we arguing over whether porn is first amendment protected to begin with? It's not art and it's not speech, so the first amendment has fuck all to do with it, regardless of your opinion on porn.
Gooners are mad. That's it. No complaints about needing federal ID to fly domestically, no acknowledgement that obscenity law doesn't apply to the nigger word, not a care for publicly traded companies debanking you for thinking trannies are a menace. That is not the free speech issue that generates tens of pages of argument.

No, sir. It's that gooners will have to prove they are 18 to porn sites.

It's like talking to a 13 year old who just listened to his first Sam Harris podcast and thinks he has the entire world figured out.

This is a favorite tactic of leftists. During GamerGate they would weaponize CSAM by posting it themselves and then reporting it to try to get websites like 8chan taken down.

Because it's an encroachment on your right to privacy. What if this information got leaked, as information typically does? Do you really want people knowing, for example, that you look at scat porn?
Pornography isn't a right, dumbass. Don't use porn if you are afraid sites will use your data maliciously or get hacked. Easy solution.

I had to abandon libertarianism because Nick Rekieta is KF's new standard for what liberty looks like. Now that I'm a rootin' tootin' conservative again, I don't have a problem with the government requiring an ID to log into kiwi farms. I know it's not something free people should have to deal with, but there's just a lot of stuff here that I don't want my kid to see, and Josh makes more effort than most to make this website accessible to anyone, even providing instruction on how to circumvent government bans. We should probably just have the entire internet adopt the same rules as terrestrial radio. Anyone who curses, uses slurs, describes an obscene act, or pulls a prank on anyone else should be subject to hundreds of thousands in fines per incident from the FCC. Some people will say that's too much money but don't forget that Janet Jackson showed her nipple at the super bowl because she didn't care about the small fine. If the fine isn't high enough, rich people will just ignore it and continue to peddle smut and liberalism to our children.

90s conservatism was the best. We wouldn't be in this mess if you had just let us outlaw Harry Potter and Pokémon for promoting demonic idol worship.

Because it won't stay limited to porn sites, you fucking sperg.
There's no reason for it not to stay limited to porn sites. If the government wanted to pass legislation impeding free access to the Internet they already would have regardless of whether there's an ID requirement for porn websites or not. We have already seen the government pass or try to pass radical legislation without the need for prerequisites.

I mean... that would certainly explain your weirdly narrow attitude. No. I'm not, and I don't think anyone else is, defending porn sites. I'm defending any website's anonymity, including this one, should this legislation pass because it seeks to cast any website where "obscene" materials are available, behind an ID wall. And what is considered "obscene" will be updated to today's standards of whoever is in charge on capitol hill.

Pick up, but don't say anything, just listen. If it's a human being who actually has something to say to you, they'll say "Hello? Hello?" when they hear the line connect, even if it's a business that uses an auto-dialer, like a doctor's office or your insurance company. If it's a spam robocall, the machine will hang up after a few seconds of silence. Eventually your number will be removed from their list as an unsuccessful contact. Block all the robots that hang up if you don't say "Hello" first. I did this for a couple months and now I rarely get robocalls, because I'm on the "unsuccessful contact" list. I also haven't missed any important calls doing this.
I thought I was genius for figuring this out because I told everyone I knew and no one had the thought to do it but I guess I'm not that smart.

It really does work, I used to get 20 to 30 a day but now I don't get any.

I think Dr.J is saying that the government requiring ID for anything accessed at your home is an encroachment to your privacy. Like if suddenly they said "All Rated M game purchases online had to show proof of ID" it'd be a different tune. I get that porn is abhorrent but giving the government the ability to say "You need an ID to access this website" gives them a lot of power to abuse.

Yeah but don't you get it, the government has never expanded the reach of its power or abused its power in all of human history so it's literally impossible that this oversight will extend beyond porn to tracking everything you say and do online (something authoritarians are very loud about wanting to do) so it's fine.

If the government wanted to pass legislation impeding free access to the Internet
Because that wouldn't pass.

There's no reason for it not to stay limited to porn sites
A bill to ban/monitor porn sites could pass. Then it would be expanded upon to include all manner of sites the government doesn't like. Which is what always happens.

Were all of you asleep when the government was pushing hard for tech companies to censor "misinformation" on COVID which very quickly expanded to include virtually anything the government found unflattering or contrary to narratives they were trying to push? But no, on this one particular pet issue I have, the thing that has always happened throughout human history when the government is granted power would NEVER happen here because uh... because I say so, okay?

I said it last night and I'll say it again. I am profoundly amused that there's vocal support on this site for the government to build the framework and flagship effort to begin setting up ID checkpoints on the internet. It's like everything that's happened in the last 5 years doesn't matter, and everything that happened in the last 50 years is just "Meh... we'll be better" hand waived.

There was no reason for debanking to be used for anything short of suspected terrorism but here we are. There is no reason for a surveillance state tool use against citizens yet here we are. If something can be abused it will be abused. Often times abused in ways you could have never even thought of.
