Anime/Manga - Discuss Japanese cartoons and comics here; NO CULTURE WAR DOOMPOSTING!

What happens if Oda dies and OP isn't done yet? Because that's what looks like, they are trying to create a Detective Conan-style anime where the story never moves forward so that it can be exploited endlessly.
I've heard that Oda has written instructions on how to end One Piece in case he dies.

I don't know what you mean. The plot has advanced faster in the last year then it did the 5 years before that.

They got a back-up plan. Unlike Miura, Oda actually has notes upon notes of what's going to happen in the story, though quite a bit of it goes underutilized or unused due to time, hence the SBS segments. It will honestly suck if Oda dies prematurely, however, I think it'll be okay in the end.

You can get a good idea of what a culture is missing by what it has in its fantasies and there seems to be a lot of manhua of adopting cute little girls and becoming fathers
S Korea is like the worst parts of Japan filtered through the dark-future rants of the manosphere. No one has any chance of fucking much less starting a family. Birth rate is extraordinarily dire and the only two countries that have lower rates are populations China is passively trying to kill (Macau and Hong Kong)

Holy shit the animation in the new episode of Ninja and Assassin is fantastic, wish they were always on that level. Also technically a netorare arc ending with a murder.

An assistant dips his nuts in the ink, drags them across the page to spell out "get fucked", sends in the manuscript and calls it a day. All according to Oda's plan, OP was always supposed to end with him dying and it being forever unfinished. It was all just a practical joke.

But do you want to know what Oda's editor did when the ending he waited for was placed in front of his very eyes?

He laughed.

I like One Piece as much as the next guy, but c'mon man. They just introduced a new tier of bad guy, like the Warlords or Yonko of previous eras of the manga. There could easily be yet another tier of bad guys beyond them, and a tier beyond them and a tier beyond them until the heat death of the universe.

Its a battle manga. There's always someone else lurking in the shadows.

There's very little space narratively left to introduce new threats that are bigger and badder than the threats of the last year. Like maybe Rocks gets resurrected and Ancient Aliens guard Raftel but even that shit would feel like a step down from the immortal and monstrous leaders of the shadow government (and to a lesser extent the God Knights).

One Piece is actually just a large allusion to the Nika Riots of Justinian I. Pirates and Marines (plus Dragons) are the Blues and Greens.

I'd be more worried how OP will end since while I do think Oda has a plan for it, whether it'll be satisfying is an entirely different matter after what might be over +30 years of build up.
Given how big the fanbase is there are probably gonna be a decent amount of people pissed if it isn't exactly what they wanted, but for me looking at other long running shonen series who's endings I didn't like it comes down to if the main prize/goal is a nothing burger (thankfully Oda has said multiple time that the one piece is a real thing not just a handwavy "the friends we made along thew way" BS), the main/final villain is a let down (at this point its probably gonna come down to 3-4 characters, but I know some people are gonna complain if it's not the one they wanted), or if the majority of the cast get the short end of the stick and what ever arcs they where on gets dropped or happened off screen (this actually might happen with some characters given how many there are, but each of the strawhats will probably achieve their dream at the very end in some way).

The Blitz of Green Gables continues. I noticed in the mad rush to summerize the series they skipped the creation of Idlewild... the crux of Diana and Anne's childhood friendship. They've barely even afforded Anne the time to use her imagination. In 79' they'd show off Anne's daydreams with an interesting visual flair. Anne Shirley has just discovered this in episode 6 with the writer's club, and it's the most pleasing the show has looked thus far.
It goes for a storybook design
nuCordelia.webp
whereas the old show went for a theatre aspect
Cordelia.webp
.
But given the speed of the current adaptation, Anne is likely to be grown in just a few more episodes, meaning no more imagination.

Surely importing Johnny Somalis at replacement rate can save Korea! Just look at how it's "saved" the west...

I'm dying for a Belisarius Plebicus Maximus arc.

I just finished Frieren and Delicious in Dungeon. I need some more light-hearted animes to just watch casually, anything you recommend? Preferably not fantasy, kinda burnt out on it, and not romance heavy, those just doom me.

This season's sci-fi comedy Apocalypse Hotel is fairly light-hearted once you get over the presumed extinction of humanity from a pandemic in the first few minutes of the first episode.

Non Non Biyori. I think Yuru Camp as well. "Aria the Animation" and it's sequels.
