Did I miss something upthread about the PO being lazy? Because it seems pretty early in the journey for this conclusion

The first sign of it was the perfunctorily rubber-stamped travel approval after the judge left that in the hands of the PO, who would have been free to make a highly discretionary judgment call one way or another. I get it that probation's policy would generally err on the side of encouraging "work" relationships to lower the odds of recidivism, and I get it that POs are too busy with a huge caseload to expect them to spend hours on a deep dive into every little travel request, but in this particular case A) the already questionable nature of this "job" when Nick hadn't even streamed for 8 months, B) the travel request landing right at the start of a honeymoon period of sorts where a PO is still getting to know the subject and figure out if he's one of the few that can be trusted, and C) this "work" obligation being in fucking Vegas of all places should have been enough preliminary red flags to at least escalate to asking a few more probing questions beyond having him just fill out a form.

If the PO weren't lazy, plenty of questions could have been asked about the details of the event, whether he's even getting paid for it, why in-person attendance at this particular event would be essential to this "work" of his that can be done literally anywhere with an internet connection, and above all a list of names of associates he would be "working" for or "working" with on the trip. Hell, even that list of names alone should have been enough for a mere 5 minutes of googling to find the perfect excuse to tell Nick it would be best for him to just appear remotely this time around as he's fully equipped to do, and maybe go in person next year if he gets x number of months of clean piss tests under his belt first:
