Last I checked, you will still get pretty much banned on sight for posting sharty content or admitting you're from the sharty on 8cuck'. At the very least, the users there will mass report you until a janny eventually decides to wipe your posting history and give you a timeout. Same goes for 4chan posts.

Anyways, this isn't the first time this happened, not too long ago Kirsche mentioned moe as well(She is now in the news over a dropped game promotion with Crime Boss: Rockay City, being part of a recent VICE hitpiece and being in the middle of the new Synthetic Man controversy, in case you're wondering which anime avatar she is). The attention wasn't quite so positive, as she declared she is more of a 4chan person, but attention is still attention.

Speaking of 4chan, If you remember during the peak of it's blackout we would see upwards of 4000+ PPH, so there is definitely some retention there if there is still 700 PPH long after the site came back up. There is no comparison to how dead the site used to be in 2024, you would be lucky to have days with double digit PPH on /v/ and usually the board would sit on a measly 2-3 PPH total with every other board outside the 50 PPH+ Spanish speaking ones being a complete ghost town. I don't know how long this boon of traffic is going to last, but I will say that it would take a smart admin to capitalize on this. There is nobody like that anywhere near any position of power on moe, so we will likely see the site squander this opportunity and start bleeding users again. 200 PPH is pretty good for a board like /v/ or /vt/ but it is still slow for your average user today. 8chan might once again be the place where cuckchanners wait out their bans or 15 minute countdown timers and not much else, even after the windfall of the 4chan hack. Only time will tell if the newcomers are still in the honeymoon phase or not.
Quick look at the board shows me that not much has changed: Same people they keep complaining about + new shills, same endless spam and poor moderation(that includes constant reports of CP), Mark is still retarded and so are his jannies, random posts are deleted with no rhyme or reason which I am sure the newblood will enjoy, and the site is broken AGAIN(apparently something to do with scripts, none of my browsers render the site fully operational, each one is missing something the other one has). The threads are a bit more active, sure, but their quality sure haven't improved, I'm even seeing people openly call the site "8chan retirement home" which is something that used to trigger the mods(and got me banned several times for "spam") years ago but is once again an accepted fact of life right now much like 4chan memes/soyjak posting. Looks like I was right on the money, even with all the attention the site got it is little more than an alternative for those who are momentarily scorn or banned from posting on 4chan. Sooner or later, they will come crawling back to 4chan after 8chan admins do something stupid or their entire posting history gets wiped, only to come back to 8chan when they get a 3 day ban out of nowhere on 4chan ect.

Just like with 4chan, it's problems start and end with the moderation and short of kicking out everyone in charge of the 8chan and filling them with less retarded admins and jannies, nothing will ever change no matter how many times 4chan gets hacked or how many v-tubers shill the site. It will take more than slightly bigger activity in the threads to bring back any meaningful change outside of flip-flopping users who don't care where they post.

I've even seen a couple of posts in that very thread still complaining that people went too hard on Kingdom Come 2 over "chuds blowing everything out of proportions" like it's still February(the example I've seen pointed out was the 15 year old gay romance, and we know what moe's stance on kids is). That's on top of Kiki actually making a dedicated 8chan stream the other day, must have gotten those two mixed up, I don't follow this v-tuber shit.

That might have been it, I know 8chan was getting quite a lot of press when 4chan went down and from several sources, that includes big twitter accounts. Too tired right now to do more research, but I know one of them was a v-tuber so probably Pippa.

Not really, GG general was always like this even on Prime, or at least for as long as I remember. Thing is, that 8/v/ used to be a whole lot more than that, it wasn't as active as 4/v/ but there were still plenty of active threads and at best of times, you could have several active discussions at once. Now, it's pretty much just the watercooler thread and maybe a few posts in one or two other threads by the end of a day. Now with 4chan refugees, it looks like a few generals might have moved there, or at least made moe their bunker, but other than those niche topics, it's mostly /vb/ shitposting and the usual threads getting a few more posts than they normally would. Most active thread I noticed over the last two days aside from the watercooler is Blue Archive general, and that might only be because there is a deranged SEA nigger spamming it all day(if the regulars are to be trusted, which they shouldn't)
Then there is the obvious pedo problem, which I think Acid is more responsible for than Mark, it's clear Cole wants, or wanted, moe to be pedo haven but that failed when he got too much criticism for /hebe/. The post-shooting era, when anons were getting their shit together, was also pretty good. There were plenty of splinters and bunkers, but there was a general attitude of getting back together and maybe re-forming 8chan again one day, after all the community wasn't broken, just the site. Then Julay happened and that dream died, ever since then it was just endless proxy wars between the remaining alt-chans and constant bickering. If it wasn't for the Hispachan shutdown and 4chan hack, moe would be completely dead in the water by this point.

I'll take your word for it, as I really only just browsed /v/ in general, and occasionally /pol/. Maybe some other boards. The 2016 thread was amazing to behold at the time even if it got boomery and gay afterward, and the 2024 election thread here on the Farms felt very close to that.

Not him, but I can tell you why I finally made an account after 10+ years of lurking: Lack of activity and complete downward spiral of the site's quality. Towards the end of 2023, there was absolutely no reason to go on /v/ other than the watercooler thread, pretty much all vidya discussions but the latest news were dead. On top of that, you had to deal with porn addicts everywhere, you couldn't click on a thread that didn't have boobs, horny posting, straight up porn or pedo shit, you just had to deal with it. To an extent imageboards were always like this, but it's clear that everyone left moe other than pedophiles and gooners. It's not like the taste of the users on moe is superior to the ones on 4chan, whenever an opportunity arises to actually talk about video games, many users show that their tastes are garbage and often times can't even tell you of any good games they played in the last half decade or more. One such example is the "Western Video Game Chart" thread that I talked about before, that showed that the site cannot handle any big projects anymore and don't know a thing about videogames when asked about them, yet they will happily sperg out about politics and e-drama in the watercooler thread. Then there is the dogshit moderation, you better hope Mark doesn't like the game you're shitting on or your entire post history is gone! The constant boogeyman shittery also got tired after a while, I think I just stopped bothering to make any quality posts there at all the 7th or 8th time I was called Niggerpill/Luciano/LCP/an offsite raider for absolutely no reason, and just made an account here one day out of boredom. So it wasn't even that the activity was low but the posting quality was good(like on prime), it was non-existent activity outside of one thread and the entire board eventually just becoming one huge watercooler thread itself, it's posting culture and all.

Looking back, I stuck around for way too long. I should have wised up and made an account in 2020 or so, when the webring implosion happened just in case. Wouldn't lose out on anything by lurking both the webring and this place. I wouldn't say that I, or anybody else, left 8chan. It was 8chan that left us, and people are too stubborn to give it up, either due to the good memories they have with the site, or because they're too stubborn to move on, or because they have nothing else going on with their lives and need it for clout or to further their e-careers, such as is the case with Mark.
