Sure, but it's a consequence for his stupidity. If someone's up in your porch and in your face, the smartest thing to do is going back inside and call the cops. It's not cowardice avoiding an unwanted conflict, specially when he's trespassing your property. Just go inside and call the cops. If he wants to escalate things further, you have the law behind you saying you can light him up if he tries to barge in. But Chance wanted to be a tough guy and ended up lying on his back. He's lucky fat boy didn't shank him, doesn't sounds something out of character for an unstable retard like him
