My theory is that whoever the latest owners of the Vice whorehouse are, they care so little about the employees/freelancers that they don't even want to spend any money on what could have been an easily winnable case for them. I don't know if they could count on winning legal fees but for recently bankrupt Vice, just spending the $50k+ for a theoretical future return is a nuisance. Alternatively, they were alarmed by the POCD shit and chose the quickest way to defuse the situation.

This is largely the result of many things being aligned in this moment; Phil is extremely uncredible and is a open degenerate (notably people noticing the POCD he admitted to), vice recently was bailed out and now doesn’t have federal propaganda money, kirche has popular support from many parts of the internet and hasn’t done anything universally hated, they fucked up their articles with sources that are timestamped suspiciously. Without any of these elements we would see a far different outcome from retard fox victory it still might not be over yet. Most jorno companies don’t want famous authors let alone infamous ones, the days of bob woodward are over they want glup shitto who cranks out 50 nothing pieces a month with luke warm political takes that no one will remember the author of.
