This response ironically shows their complete inability, in their thirties, to empathize.
They both seem especially invested in making sure that people understand they DON'T CARE. They made some extreme claims about the Kleins, their mental health, and their politics. They made friends with open terrorist sympathizers. Their boxing event was so sketchy and poorly-ran that fighters are dropping out. Anyone with empathy would understand that their audience wants to hear their rationale, their side of the story now that Mr Jomha's clout-chasing hitpiece has been met with pushback.
But Anisa and her husband can't grasp that. They think what their audience must care about is whether or not the trolling and social media mob have "gotten" to them. Because that's what they care about, so everyone else must care about that too. So they reassure all the people who may have bought tickets to CC3, who may want clarification now that Ethan has responded to the hitpiece, who may be suspicious of Hasan's extremist politics. Don't worry guys, we've gotten some mean social media comments but we're OK and we DON'T CARE.
