Very true. Incidentally, I would like to note that it seems like there is a sort of "Nixon renaissance" beginning to grow online. The Nixon Foundation has an active Youtube channel which I've noticed commenting on pro-Nixon videos, and I wouldn't be surprised if some books will start to be published in the coming years rehabilitating his reputation.

They have 21 times the population. It's not an achievement to have the same GDP. India would need to have 21 times the GDP of the UK to be equal to them, let alone larger.

this hearing is going amazing I don't think you guys get what is going on here

the strategy of avoiding doing the hard work of making deals and making legislation by playing EO-injunction pingpong is being totally dismantled. Sotomayor straight up said "dumbass how are you going to save yourselves from another president doing this same thing to take your guns?" and even more importantly although less memeable Kagan asked Sauer to clearly explain how an unlawful EO could be stopped in a timely manner under his theory.

plus that unfortunate looking new jersey person is explictly EXPLICITLY laying out how much of the states' case for relief is based on how expensive it is for them to figure out whether they have to pay out for the huge number of anchor babies being born. nice own goal sir!

birthright citizenship needs to end, but it needs to be disentangled from the constitutional issue via normal political processes. this hearing is the beginning of that process and it's going to end correctly. The entire process, that is. The court is going to rule against the administation here but this is just the beginning.

I think the Nixon Renaissance is because most people now a days are too young to remember when Watergate was an apocalyptic bombshell, recall the biggest scandal before was teapot done which by today's standards is practically nothing for political corruption, it seems watergate now would be an event inline with an ordinary easily forgettable scandal going off of modern standards. We really have lost our standards haven't we.

Regardless Nixon was an objective mastermind, many of his tapes on that channel seem borderline prophetic, things like the white House plumbers don't help his case though.
I have noticed an inversion of past presidents. Carter the peanut farmer seems to be venerated by the youngins for a while now while Reagan is being treated more like the devil, even by younger rightists. If you ask an old timer there would probably be nothing but venom being spat out while they spoke of Carter but praise of Reagan.
